Oilers- Ten straight games without a powerplay differential advantage. Closing in on record?

Be more disciplined

...or...hear me out...get refs who know how to call a fair game? I know. Mind blown logic here.

Up 3-1 in round 2.....let’s worry about PP differentials. LoL.

Why do people expect penalty calls to automatically be even every game?
Idk, quite often one team commits many more penalties than their opponent, the reasons for this can vary widely.
PP attempts always being even (or refs trying to keep them close) seems to be just as much as (if not more of) a sign of a rigged game than simply calling the penalties that are deserved, no matter how many they’ve already called against that team.

But it's not one game. It's ten in a row.

So? The point stands
Because the differential typically is not that big in this league, and the Oilers are a winning team that carries the play more often than not, yet they somehow get more calls against them every single game.

Not almost every game. Every game.

Did you watch the last game? What did you think of the penalties that were called on the Oilers in the first period? And do try to be objective.

Who am I kidding...

Well if you play the Oilers and want a powerplay all you need to do is tackle one of the Oilers into your own goalie. 100% guaranteed man advantage.
Or, be better than what Kane did in that moment to excessively obliterate the goalie.... he knew what he was doing. It is Kane after all.

Great way to assume that I have some agenda because I made a general statement about officiating. Grow up and get over the conspiracy theories.
My statement was a general one, it has nothing to with the Oilers’ last game, or their last ten games, in fact, it’s not even exclusive to the Oilers.
The statement is accurate.

Oh like you aren't some fairweather main-boards fan coming in to pile on. We've seen enough of that, thank you very much.

Have you watched all the Oilers games before sacrimoniously riding out to the league's defence? No?

Then just save it.

I’m sorry if you can handle a differing opinion. I’m not here as a fair weather fan with some agenda, I just stated my opinion. Lmaolol, I don’t like Vegas, and this isn’t some attempt to back them. Go ahead, feel free to believe that the league is all aligned against you..... sounds very similar to Leaf fans. :scared:
LoL about the only sanctimonious thing I’m doing here today is correcting your spelling. *Sanctimoniously.

Oilers also among the least penalized teams in this playoff as well. With these incompetent refs, that's how these things work.

Sometimes I really truly believe Leafs fans are the biggest whiners but then the Oilers come in and remind me that they take the crown every time.

Who the hell even keeps track of consecutive games with "negative powerplay differential". What a pointless, nothing stat that has no value and means absolute nothing beyond the fact that the Oilers don't draw enough penalties 🤣 🤣 🤣

Come back and say that again when it happens to the Panthers.

What am I saying?

Ah you got a Swede on language. I submit to your greater wisdom.

Pro tip: laughing at posters instead of addressing their point is a loser thing to do.

You know what you're doing.
I started typing that reply right after I dropped the laugh emoji on your previous post.
Yes, I now know what I’m doing,.... I am wasting my time trying to have any type of conversation with you. Adios

If you want an approximation, a way to do this is:

The probability of something happening 10 games in a row is = p^10

If refereeing is even handed, you might expect the distribution of total penalties to be symmetric - i.e., each team has about a 50/50 chance of being penalized more or less.

So in this case p = 0.5, so the probabilty is = 0.5^10 = 0.0976% or about 1 in 1032 chance.

However, we know that reffing is not even handed and things like home/away status, star/reputation bias, and score of the game can all affect when/if a penalty is called. So maybe the Oilers have a 60% or 70% probability of getting more penalties than their opponents. The math on that for 10 games would be:

0.6^10 = 0.605% or 1 in 165
0.7^10 = 2.825% or 1 in 35

I’ll leave you to your sing with your chosen “choir”,
because you obviously can’t handle hearing anything from outside of your echo chamber.
It's not that.

It's someone on the mains who doesnt watch the games but can't help themselves from coming in going "well actually..."

There's a time and place for sharing one's opinion if all you've got to offer are self-admitted generalisations.

So... adios? Or?

Thanks for demonstrating the probabilities.
