I laughed so hard. My buddy was bitching about Arvidson. I told him I heard a real good interview with him the other day and that I can see Arvidsson turning it around soon

I did not expect it to be this quick though

First game yesterday where he actually looked comfortable and confident with the puck. Hope we can see more of this.
Don't really agree with this at all. He's looked comfortable and confident with the puck the past 4 or 5 games. Took some time for him to learn how to play off Draisaitl, but he's looked much better than his stat line this season, and the advanced stats back that up as well.

Really? He has skated like Bambi up until yesterday. Agree to disagree!

he along with Hyman have been the better looking forwards all season. With and without the puck. I don't understand people saying he sucked until recently. Are people just boxscore watching?

Arvid has played about 3 informed games with Drai where he plays like he somewhat should with Leon.

These have coincided with games where Leon is huge and elevating everybody.

Some things that don't work is Arvid shooting everything at net from everywhere. The broadcast were somehow saluting this even though Arvid from range ain't gonna score much. Every shot he's making is a lost feed to Drai with a much better shot. Arvid shooting pad seeking/logo finding muffins on goal is basically losing the puck.

Arvid needs to get more comfortable with the puck, with give and go, and holding and looking to see if he can find Drai. Arvid scored last night but look where he scored from. Thats where his goals will come from. Not from firing away from range from even angles. Frustrating for a player that can't beat goalies from range anymore but Arvid needs to realize that more. He'd need open net one timers to score from range and its not being his strong point either.

Trouble is Arvid who eats a lot of punishment already and may not be great at absorbing that needs to be in areas to score. He's starting to get comfortable again with going there but not sure how well he survives constant punishment.

Nah. Arvid will often look real busy. He's paid to add to our offence. He's not here on some budget or only defense deal. Needs to be more confident with retaining puck and looking for passes. At this tenure Arvid is best as a playmaker and getting into scoring areas. Been some reluctance staying around those areas and he's been very easy to bounce off the puck. Teams for first 8 games were basically running him and just taking puck away, because why not?

Last few games Arvid has been using his mobility and waterbug ability more. He can dance in tight spots. But only recently is he doing that.

No doubt he's a skill player or has been. But one that has gotten rocked and hurt so much the question always is how his body holds up and how much he can eat getting drilled. Darting around and avoiding checks is a better look for him and starting to see some of it.

But thing to look for is Arvid is only getting going against worse opponents. Any game against even competent teams or coverage and he hasn't done much.

Best game by far from RV as an Oiler, and playing an old team was probably a big factor in that. It was great seeing he and Drai shoulder to shoulder on the bench talking plays out, now stick with that even after Connor returns. We need two scoring lines to make the playoffs never mind be a contender.

Im sorry, but I can't take your opinion on him seriously. You have a massive hate on for the player and came in swinging against him in the preseason with no basis or facts.

Arivdsson has been one of the better players all season, getting shots off, always skating, being the middle of it and motoring to the net. Only him and Hyman do It consistently. They get in there and buzz around.

You always bring up his injury history like it's relevant how he's played so far. Its not. He's been solid, if he end up getting hurt in the future it doesn't change anything he's already done. So we are just going to have to agree to disagree.

You have clear, demonstrated bias against him and I just take what you say about him seriously.

On the basis of what he's done thus far I'm not sure the "one of the better players" tag is warranted or hyperbole.

Better players: Drai, McD, Ekholm, Booch, Pickard, With on effort level Hyman added to that. Maybe even Perry is getting up there. There haven't been a lot in anycase Arvid is doing exactly what he should now, presently, and if you check my history in a search I used to be high on the player. It ain't no hate thing. I hated the offseason. I think the money was better spent elsewhere. I was a vocal opponent of the whole offseason.
2 seasons ago I appreciated what Viktor could bring to a lineup. I'm not as sold now.

Look, worst possible result is Arvid being better than yama in the role. but that ain't big shoes and he's getting 4M of cap that we just didn't have to toss around.

Best possible would be breaking 40-50pts and that ain't much playing with Drai one of the best players in the world.

The player hasn't been solid. He's been falling down an awful lot. he even cost us the first GA game before doing that.

Careful. The poster will accuse you of "slandering" Arvid. lol

Its OK to expect more consistency and effectiveness out of a player brought here to be a producer.
You spent weeks even months shitting on Skinner and Arvidsson like you had something against them personally before they even played a game for the team. I called you out on it and you just outright lying and making shit up and now you're a salty baby over it. Grow up man. Never seen a guy north of 50 years old act the way you do.

Arvidsson has always gone down easy. It's why so many called him a diver on this board in the multiple playoff series he had against us. He's not strong on his feet, but he doesn't need to be to be an effective player. He has an endless motor, he's an above average skater, he has a quality shot, he is an excellent passer with good vision. His only real flaw is he's small, recently injury prone, and he sometimes takes low percentage shots.

that one poster with ice cold takes on arvidson here and Pod in the other thread. Wild that one can even fathom that someone else would actually consider their hockey point of view about anything after such horrible and uninformed takes.

Arvidsson could score in the next 6 games in a row, and rather than just acknowledge that he's playing well, we would likely be treated to a novel explaining it away because the opposition wasn't good, Draisaitl did it all, its easier to play when the weather gets colder, it was a full moon, etc, etc, etc.
