Post-Game Talk: Oilers score 5 goals and an ENG without McDrai

Most goaltenders either glovr down that pass or just read the play and push off the post, maybe both.

But with Skinner, expecting him to push off the post like guys in peewee is too much.

Swap Emberson with Bouchard while we are at it. Bouchard was the only reason why this game was close.

Nurse should try not backing into his own net and defending rushes like a dumb rookie. Those goals aren’t going in on any other pair.

Nurse - Walman have been deservedly shredded on the rush the last two games and that’s of nobody’s fault than their own.

The goalie sucks. Help him by not being dumb. The other two pairs can manage it. Nurse - Walman can’t.

Another gutsy effort. Goes to show a lot of these veteran players who were used to big minutes and being in key situations can deliver. I wonder if they lose that rhythm in more limited roles.

Positives:

- Nuge. Man has he ever come alive at the perfect time. Happy to see it as someone who was very critical of his play.
- Podkolzin. Just a dog out there and was making smart plays.
- J Skinner. Bump him up with Hyman and Henrique next game. Creating offense almost every shift.
-Walman. Love his aggressiveness in the o zone and the neutral zone. Gaps up well. Some adventures but playing with Nurse especially the last couple is tough.
-Jones. Best effort since his first 2 games. Still a guy that’ll be in the press box come playoffs but provides energy.

Lots of jump from Henrique, Hyman and Arvidsson too.

Negatives
- Stuart Skinner. Guy just sucks, to be expected at this point
- Nurse. Has been productive but is a liability right now defensively. Gives up the blue line for free and loses his man defensively. That Schwartz goal is mostly on him.
- Bouchard. Can always count on one boneheaded play
-Perry. Maybe his worst game. Way too slow, bad puck management.

Its a soft sifter from the point going to the net last second. Everybody in the rink and watching at home holding their breath and all the Oilers too. Its a problem.

Booch looked to have a rough game as well.

He was .1 goal below expected

He wasnt good in advanced stats/expected stats, or the eye test, he gave up 4 goals on 3.91 expected

Stan Bowman on after hours when when talking about a possible McDavid contract extension in the summer.

"He's the most important player we have here. That is priority #1. We'll get to that this summer. Now's probably not the right time to talk about that but we all know that Connor's gonna be here and we're gonna make it happen"

True - Bouchard serves to be in that category too.

Skinner sucks. That’s zero excuse for 25, 96 and 2. Goalie isn’t going to change, defending the rush like you’ve played in the NHL before can help though.
 
Oilers played with fire tonight (actually Stuart Skinner did lol) but a great win nonetheless. Jeff Skinner has arrived finally. He was on fire tonight and all over the ice. He's fast out this and the way he pivots in the neutral zone is great. He's got such a good shot. His goal was a beauty.

Henrique was good last game and he was just as good tonight. Nice goal for him.

RNH was a MONSTER tonight. A hat trick and he looked like a complete star out there. The Real Nuge is here. 9 points in his last 3 games. His line was great tonight too. Podkolzin and Arvidsson were all over it

Draisaitl isnt re-signing here if McDavid wasnt committed also.

There isn't a single other team in the league that has the entire rink clenching their asshole like that on a panic muffin from the point with no traffic like that.

That's how bad our shit Goaltending PTSD is.

Canucks lost tonight, no way they will catch the Oilers now.

Flames win tonight to keep their hopes alive. They have been one of the surprises in the league this year. They won't catch the Oilers but credit them for hanging in there.

I'd like to see Rodrigue get a few games in before the end of the regular season but of course it won't happen.
