Only Nashville, Philly, San Jose and Pittsburgh have a worse PDO than this team.
This game was predictable. Our biggest weakness defensively is rush defence and Anaheim is good at rush offence. Couple with the team missing all its skill and Rodrigue not being a hero (not his fault).
I’m more worried about how much of a pushover this roster is.

This roster is an indication that Bowman and Jackson need to be fired immediately before more damage can be done in the offseason. They are absolute clowns. The poor roster construction reeks of no direction, no thought process. The "only" reason Bowman made the Walman and Frederic moves at the deadline was because Katz was probably mad at why the team was struggling. Walman has been ok, Frederic will end up a disaster.

I feel like we have lost most games this year when we get 40+ shots. Clearly volume shooting is not a valid strategy here.
The handling of Jeff Skinner this season is an affront to logic and sense.
This f***ing guy, despite having been played largely with absolute plugs, healthy scratched, given zero prime minutes, or PP time still might manage to hit 20 goals.
You KNEW he had some warts when you f***ing signed him. Not giving him enough rope to work through a few of them has actually caused this team to underperform.
Easily the worst piece of coaching that Knobloch has done since he arrived.

Oilers get "goalied" every other game...maybe it's the forwards and not the goalies they face
To be fair, when you look at where our shots are coming from, they're not very dangerous.
This to me is another coaching issue. Players have completely stopped going to, or driving the net. Instead they pull up on the wing, and drop the pass back to the blue line for a long distance blast. This is basically the Oilers calling card at this point. It also kind of explains why the team doesn't draw any penalty's despite controlling play in the O zone for large swathes of the game.

Yeah, I can't imagine too many teams being scared of the muffin point shots from the likes of Nurse, Kulak, et al. At this point of the season it isn't a coincidence, this is just who we are. A team that struggles to score outside of McDavid and Draisatl.

I 100% agree. The Oilers will almost always opt for low percentage shots that have virtually no chance of going in. Teams are content to let us cycle only for the defensive d-man to take the shot.
When you’re shooting on Skinner everyday in practice everyone feels like a 50 goal scorer. Then they play against actual goalies and it’s crest-o-rama because goalies are not surprised by 40 foot wristers.
That's why you have to react when it happens, not after the fact.
Chased him around and "offered to fight him", just silly nonsense.

It's really next to impossible to get excited about players this team scouts. Max Jones had a nice first game and then fell off the map. Frederic had a nice 7 minutes and might not play again this season. Klingberg blows through and through. Savoie could have potential but it doesn't feel like he's going to get to show it here.
Wasn't part of the excitement of drafting McDavid that we wouldn't have to keep dumpster diving in the hopes of finding someone else's treasure? Of course this team can't manage a salary cap so we're forced to play shorthanded... You can pretty much go year by year since McDavid was drafted and pick out several errors whether they were signings, trades, or draft choices.

What's happening right now is what always happens when the Oilers slightly struggle: the fanbase cannibalizes itself, the players, the coaches, and the management. This fanbase is chalk full of loudmouth piss babies who aren't happy unless they're whining about something, and the Oilers having the 2 best players in the world and their best defenseman out to injury is apparently a good enough reason for those fans to throw tantrums about the owner for some reason.
It's like clockwork, the Oilers struggle, the piss babies come out in full force complaining about every possible thing you can imagine, and when the Oilers do well, they disappear to yell at the neighbors kids for playing outside or some other miserable shit like that.

Instead of petitions to cancel Gretzky by a few lunatics, perhaps put up petitions to get rid of an enabler and his clown boss , who came in and dismantled a championship roster. The level of incompetence is astounding. Boo the right people. Not the wrong ones.

I don't like Darnell Nurse coming out and saying the team's response to the dirty play was adequate. Yeah, they got in a few scrums and challenged Gudas. He refused to take any accountabilty for his hit like the coward that he is. If he didn't want to take accountability, why did we not go after any of their better player to send a message? I'm not even talking illegal dirty plays, here. Not a single hard hit, nothing. They just refuse to make the lives of the team's high end players difficult in any way, and this does not bode well for playoffs. We aren't saving anything for the post season. This team just refuses to assert themselves at all.

100% agree, if nurse isnt going to do it (i get it hes playing good hockey and with no ekholm the team needs him) but if im max jones who is a borderline roster player wants to earn his respect from teammates etc go punch mctavish in the face
Unfortunately, the only guy wired to do things like that on the Oiler's payroll is Kane, and maybe Frederic
