Post-Game Talk: Oilers lose Duck Hunt

I guess. But Woody (who wasn’t a great coach) actually got some offense out of his players
Everybody hated Woody by the end of this tenure, just like they hated Tippett, Hitchcock, McLellan, Eakins, Krueger, Renney, Quinn, MacT by the end of their tenures all of whom the fanbase loved, outside of Eakins, in the beginning. It's the same pattern repeating every 2-3 years.
Again, all these coaches had their faults but the issues, as always, lie higher up.

Who said anything about not changing anything?

Management f***ed the roster something fierce. Start with Katz and his cronies and go from there.

Katz might be a pos when it comes to his other ventures but he's given the Oilers world class everything. He wants to win more than anyone.

Oilers are heading to the playoffs and trying to fight through a crazy amount of injuries yet somehow were asking for the owners head?

What is happening right now?

Or be realistic and look to change coaches or management. I mean you could always dream big in one hand and shit in the other, lmk which one fills up first.

Unless Bowman is literally Jackson’s puppet (possible), I expect he will bring in his own guy of Knob can’t coach them deep this season. Or at the very least he’ll have a backup plan ready to go if they suck out of the gate

One takeaway here is that with McDrai out and Skinner still being treated this way, we know it’s probably not the big two who don’t like him…

It’s entirely possible that we hired two shitty head coaches back to back, just like it’s a fact that our last three (or 4 or 5?) GMs have been crap. Administrative incompetence doesn’t just stop at the tippy top.

Reactions: Forgot About Drai
I honestly think Bouchard should be converted to a forward who can be used at the point on the power play. He’s a disaster defensively but great offensive instincts.
I've said the same thing. I think he's a natural winger.

He was absolutely dreadful in the defensive zone tonight.

Our talent level on the ice tonight is what it is. I’m more concerned about the complete lack of any kind of a physical pushback to the crap going on.
We actually outhit the Ducks, and as strange as it sounds, we have just an awful record this year in games that we outhit the other team. I thought there was enough of a pushback, Perry and Nurse both got shots in on Gudas. Last thing I wanted to see this time of the year was Nurse break his hand in a meaningless fight against a useless plug.

Katz is a bozo who helped facilitate the DoD by hiring buddies instead of focusing on building a winning hockey team. He can get royally f***ed.

Of course you can't fire him. He could help a lot by sweeping the shit he hired off the team.

I voted no on the "fire the coach" poll but he has not been impressive down the stretch. His stubborness reminds me of Maas.

None of these coaches have been that great. Jackson f***ed up the team but this team is better on paper than the results (aside from goaltending)

I thought Knob was fantastic last year, pushed just about every right button he could, falling a game short of the SC. And just like just about everybody on the ice, he's taken a step back this year. Still think he's a good coach.

I’m going to say something crazy.

Sub .900 goaltending.

.900 goaltending gets us to OT.

Calvin Pickard continues to be the only option.
We better hope that he stays healthy. Even so, he isn't typically the kind of guy you can ride for a long period of time. He has certainly been the best "value" contract on the team this season.
