Oilers hire Mike Babcock as head coach, DJ Smith as associate coach

Likely, but Based Anime Fan didn't hear any other references. To be fair, Based Anime Fan wasn't listening for Mike Babcock to refer to himself in the first person. Still a f***ing weird thing to do, if you ask Based Anime Fan.
Mr. Babcock!! I'm a Habs fan in Upper Michigan. I've always disliked the Red Wings (surrounded by Wings fans my entire life), and I really dislike the Leafs. I don't like you, and I don't like any of the teams you've coached, (Columbus would've been the best of the lot). Either way, can I ask you for your autograph? This is probably the last chance I have, before you get to really, really know the team in Oil Country. Gee, thanks!

If this fifth phallic-named coach doesn't work out, may I suggest this former AHL & WHA player as the next Oilers' coach?:

Based Anime Fan doesn't do autographs, but will taunt you and imply horrible things.

Now let me see your phone.

So McDavid apparently has the self-awareness to realize he can't push himself or his teammates to where they need to be which necessitates Babcock. So, +5 for self awareness, -100 for leadership I guess.

Imagine prime Crosby basically saying "I don't know how to do the things needed to win games and I can't motivate my teammates either so please give me someone else to do these things."

How is this actually going to work in real life? If Bouchard is dogging it in practice does McDavid go whisper in Babcock's ear, "Hey, Mike, I don't like how Bouchy's looking today, can you go chew him out please, thanks bud!"

When McDavid's going through a bad stretch is he going to say, "Hey, Babs, discipline me now baby!"

I'm sorry but if I have to win a series I'm taking prime Crosby all day over prime McDavid and I'm a ******* USA/Rangers fan for ***** sake.

I genuinely don't get why he refers to himself as Mike Babcock instead of just saying I. Instead of saying "I don't want a team that's not all in" he says "Mike Babacock doesn't want a team that's not all in."

Is he trying to seperate himself from his opinion hoping someone doesn't know he's Mike Babcock?
Can already imagine the workouts.

"Mike isn't happy with what he sees, really not happy.
Mike wants more effort from the team. That is the Olympic gold-medalist coach 'Mike Babcock' to you plebs, who have succeeded at nothing. This is the Mike Babcock who also won a Stanley cup when I made a legendary team even more legendary.

And Nurse, Mike wants to see 50 push-ups from you, right now, because of that worthless defensive coverage against Vegas last night.
Mike isn't very happy with that either.

Have fun with your new team once someone is desperate enough to bail you out from me."

I mean, Crosby won 2 Cups with hard-ass Mike Sullivan

Freakish physical talent doesn't ipso facto mean that the bearer has even a single atom of leadership in them. Many athletes have been obscenely talented without being effective leaders of their teams, or really any leader at all.

Yeah, and he won one with Dan Bylsma. That's the point. Crosby would have won Cups regardless of who his coaches were. He wasn't sitting around asking for a coach to yell at his teammates or teach him how to play defense which is apparently what McDavid thinks he needs right now.

McDavid has star player skills with a support player personality.

Sure he would have
McDavid went to back to back Finals with Skinner as a goalie but tell me again how he’s a “support player personality”

Will the media in Edmonton ask him if he's ever apologized to Johan Franzen for how he treated him? His journey of "change" probably should have that be apart of it somewhere
They are bringing Babcock in because of the evil man he has been in the past, so I don't think the media will be asking that question.

"Rancid franchise" went to two Cup finals in the past three years. Give your head a shake.

As for Babcock hiring, watch the Oilers win the Cup with him.
You're right! I shook my head and I can see so clearly now! I was wrong.

You cured me! You saved me! Oh Lordy Lordy Lordy I can see the light! Praise Stan Bowman! Praise McDavid! HALLELUJAH!

Sarcasm won't save you. ;)

If they are rancid, then I don't know what a bunch of other franchises are.

I just love pointing out how stupid it is to talk shit about an organization/team that has done better than most others.

The NHL & NHLPA found no wrongdoing in their investigation so from his perspective he's done nothing wrong. Why would he apologize exactly? It seems people want an apology for him being an asshole, I don't think that will ever happen.
The NHLPA didn’t exactly say that, first of all.

And second of all unless he did something illegal, there wasn’t much the NHL was going to do if one of the owners was dead set on hiring him. He has lots of friends high up in the league who probably pressed the league.

Also the writing was on the wall when reporting came out that some of the involved players weren’t interested in revisiting the incident for the investigation.

People have alluded to there being more we don’t know from CBJ, and that there’s a plethora of other claimed made against him from different teams.

Doesn’t surprise me that Babs doesn’t think he didn anything wrong though. Maybe he’s learned something in the sense of “everybody is going to be watching me so I have to be on my best behavior”
