I was a bit shocked at that as well. But then again the Nucks fans bandwagon a lot and jump a ship for any reason. Seems like the average fan life of a Nucks fan is give or take a few years. Mind you there isn't much in Nucks history that lends itself to staying on.

I shoudn't do this all the time but imagine little Quinny Hughes being your franchise player. The guy that if you take him out he stays out. How you play Quinn is just put him on the ice. Don't let him dance around. The Oilers pressure on Nucks was far superior to the loose shit backing off the Nucks were doing. On our PP and sometimes even EV Nucks were backing off so far we could just fire away from the slot, from High danger range. Not sure if that or their around net coverage was more hilarious.

This is why I’ve still got some major doubts about the accuracy of advanced stats especially concerning goaltenders. Vancouver scored on 3 absolutely grade A chances last night yet only 2 of them were considered high danger? I’d be fascinated to know which one of them wasn’t the high danger one.

HDSC and Expected Anything cannot be looked at in a vacuum but way too many do and take the numbers as gospel.

lol 100 percent someone who got banned last week

FYI liars always over explain. You got to keep it simple.

“No man, long time lurker”

Next account, try that out
Convince yourself of whatever you need to and drag us all through the weeds instead of talking about Stuart Skinner and accept people have differing opinions and insights into the sport and its players and its managers.

I'm sure the moderator team will see I'm not ban evading. I'd prefer to continue talking about hockey instead of letting the couple of you turn this into a pissing ground. Cheers.

I had one around ten years ago but can't recall the name. Was never banned on it at all. What do you mean by ban evading?

Lurking this place gives a great insight into the names and who's who of posters. For example I notice you and a few others regularly accuse people of ban evading and trolling when they make points or are harsh on certain players you might like.

Dismissing them as being 'ban evading' is one way of closing your eyes and covering your ears, I guess. I made an account here after lurking again for so long because of the Skinner outburst last night.

I am very clear of your tactics along with a couple others ... those of you having no real interest in discussion, rather attacking each others posting style and making claims about them to dismiss what they have to say. It's a discussion board to discuss aspects and critiques of the org.
I'm sure you were just lurking.

This place is impossible to read when not signed in as the posts take like 30 minutes to appear to those not signed in.

Exactly. Maybe "10 years ago" lurking was possible. The site is basically unusable if you aren't signed in. Half the posts don't load. Nothing new loads.

Good win but I felt it could have been a much different game if Lankinen hadn't shat the crease. Skinner was the better goalie but not by much. He's gotta have 2 of those goals back. .850 is not NHL goalie numbers.

This game I wasn't worried about. Nucks looked like they should look. Nucks are that odd kind of team that had a period of elevation based on carnival good luck. You watch last nights game and all the Garland is gone. Looks pretty bleak there.

Kind of disagree a bit, their guy kept the score closer than it should have been until the horseshoes slipped out. And agree about our guy, head scratching how easy other teams get to him. At least one softie or more in a most games.

I’m going to take the opposing opinion and say I actually like that Stu was pissed at letting in a goal late. If you remember, last year in MSG against the Rangers, a similar situation occurred and he was visibly upset with himself. I don’t mind seeing my goalie show some emotion like that.

I think he obviously knows he needs to be better and I, for one, appreciate that he has that fire in him to not settle. Especially since I think some posters here often accuse him of being too care free and of not putting the work in (the Skinner is overweight narrative).

Time will only tell if he can drag himself out of this slide and get back up to respectable numbers like he did last year, but for the time, I don’t mind him being frustrated.

Am very glad we won, and a lot of guys that really needed to get some pucks in the net, got them. However, as in the aftermath of the Pittsburgh game where several people were wetting themselves thinking we had turned this around, I remain cautiously optimistic. The Canucks are a good team and they were at home, but they were missing their #1 goalie, J.D Miller and Brock Boeser, and I have no doubt one or two of those guys would have made a bit of a difference. Still, we took advantage and made them pay. I remain concerned about the PK. The running around like headless chickens, chasing the puck has to stop, and they need to do a far better job of plugging up the middle of the ice and keeping things to the outside. The PP was encouraging, and hopefully the guys on it finally got it through their thick skulls that getting dirty goals is okay. Shoot the damned puck and clog the net is a good strategy when the pretty stuff is not working.

If he was upset with himself there would be no talk of it. He was upset with others. Look back on the play and he's motioning to his team mates, repeatedly. He wasn't blaming himself. Even Bieksa realized where Skinner fault finding was veering in his statement that Skinner was upset with the team that just gave him a TD. Let it go.

Again no big thing. Just a rare reveal into what a player was thinking that ain't so great.

Skinner is now 70th in GSAA.

Ingram below him then Georgev

lol

Silovs is one above.
Silovs at least has upside and played better at one time. heh

100%. Which is why our PK is historically bad this season.
I wish that was the only answer, but I do agree, Skinner has got to get his head out of his ass and play better. He can do it, but it needs to be consistent, game to game, and even period to period. Our PK killers need to do a far better job of keeping things to the perimeter and take away that dangerous area in the middle of the circles.

Totally agree with you. When a guy is struggling, it's not a bad thing to see him get pissed off once in a while.

@KeithIsActuallyBad

I told you the Oilers offense would break out. Just too much talent on this team and way too many unsustainably low shooting percentages for that to continue. Maybe they won't get on a roll quite yet but it was inevitable that the dam would break.

Like I said in my last reply to you you said the goal rate would increase. Of course it would. It couldn't get lower.

That said the two least indicative games of the season were the Pens game, and now last night. I say that because opposition coverage was non existent. Nice that a bunch of players got on the board, and the nucks served as great slump busters but their coverage was awful. We could've scored a dozen goals. Halfway through Lankinen looked exhausted. Like not even able to go anymore. Bieksa mentioned they probably should've pulled him earlier.

Sure theres a lot of scoring talent on the Oilers. But some of it is old and players that have a lot more trouble getting into wide open spots in premium scoring areas against even garden variety NHL opposition. The Canucks looked drunk.

The revealing factor to me will be how many players on this team will fight through coverage to get goals. Not bagging some against a team missing coverage all over.

Brown almost got a hat trick. Good for him. Never had one. But thats also how bad the Nucks were. brown could've scored 4X. heh

You get about 10 games a year like this, maybe more, where the opponent doesn't even show or flat out gives up in a game. The Nucks may have well left the ice at 4-2. They were broke. Without the deflection goal they were probably ready to be gone at 3-0. Game had all the look of a blowout.

The more games like this occur the more Hughes will want to be avoiding the Oilers at all costs. His methods don't survive Oilers pressure high very well. Oilers are not scared of him. He only exploits clubs that are.

The Oilers reside in Quinn Hughes nightmares by now. Even without Kane. Defensively he's a fraud against pressure and outsizing.

Gonna comment on the Nuge chance. I know he got criticized for finish on that one but I felt he did everything right there. Was in the right position, shoveled the puck on net immediately, was even decently placed off ice and Lankinen fluked out getting his stick on it. Frustrating play for Nuge but I absolve him on this one. Still he needs to get his game going.

The other thought on this game is very enjoyable, but not very revealing either. Nucks were crap. All the bozos that they have in lineup that shouldn't be a think were dressed as amateurs again, really what a lot of that roster is. Still laughing that they let Sprong go. Nucks figure they have a dozen forwards better than him? good luck with that. Nucks could miss playoffs this season.
Their radio homer, Ian Macintyre, was salty. Talking about the Canucks were the first good team Edmonton beat this year. Ignoring that we played better than NJ IMO and Vegas. lol. Who have they beat? A FLA team without Barkov and Tkachuk? LA? I don't consider LA a top team

Thanks for the advice.

Is there something wrong with that? I'm discussing a player on the team in the post game thread after he let the mask slip and raged out about his teammates when he has the worst metrics of a goalie in the entire league.
I am sure Jacks was more than anxiety. He used beverages from time to time to maybe mask it. Told to me by people at dinner parties first hand lol. He was the only guy who would get blasted.
