Oilers fail to DIG IN. 6-5 Panthers

He's really obviously trying to direct it in with his stick and it clips off of his skate because he misses. Goals disallowed for kicking are rare and typically need to be pretty blatant.

IDK. I'm surprised they didn't call goaltender interference.
Yeah like this one from a couple of days ago lol

Listen, it's only a kick if in your mind you put forth the effort to move your foot in a forward upward motion on the puck. But if you do it without thinking like, as if you felt the power of the force and did it with your eyes closed and free your thoughts like ultra instict goku, it is not a kick because your body didnt do it.

The difference here is Tkachuk free'd his mind from all things and was one with the world.

There is no kick.

They only won because of the refs though - HFOilers

I'm an Oilers fan who was banned from the HF Oilers board because I was fed up with all the Stuart Skinner apologists. And it's even worse on the Oilers Reddit. These clowns throw McDavid AND Draisaitl, and everyone else under the bus, blame the refs, and any other excuse they can conjure up while ignoring all statistical measures and everything else that proves Skinner is not only the most glaring problem on our roster, but also one of the worst starting goalies in the NHL.

Skinner stans are the hockey equivalent of flat earthers with their blind faith and stubborn ignorance.

I love the Oilers, but it's hard to co-exist with idiot fans who would sooner blame generational players for our failings than accept that Stuart Skinner is a human blooper reel.

Youre welcome to come here and shit on the oiler fans anytime you want

I have a theory that because Edmonton attracts so much of Canada's human refuse with its promise of quick oil money, the collective IQ of our fandom lags significantly behind the norm...so we get a contingent of mental midgets who adopt the worst possible takes. In this case...the notion that Stuart Skinner is perfectly capable of being the starting goaltender of a Stanley Cup winner, much less a capable NHL starting goaltender.

A comment from an Oilers fan pregame

"Is Barkov not playing? Too bad, I was looking forward to seeing him in person hook and slash 200x tonight playing dAt GoOd DeFeNsE"

The ref conspiracy goes deeper than we thought.. they're even responsible for Barkov's trophy cabinet.

Oilers fan dug in deep

Damn I missed this one

kinda feel bad for the guy. it doesn't look like that comes natural to him. i guess the cringe is obvious. sucks for him that he doesn't have the room like the panthers or Bs had that let quiet guys lead through their play.

as far as the game goes, surprised nobody has commented that our boy ekky had the game hight TOI (by several minutes over both mcdavid AND gus!) and managed to end up +1. that's decent.

EDIT: don't know if folks caught maurice's use of "dig in" TWICE in his presser.

There have been persistent rumors for quite a while now that Edmonton's locker room is a fractured clique-driven mess. Probably why the offer-sheeted guys were doing cartwheels to get out of there. Weren't in the club.

Also,

Saying anything positive about Ekblad is illegal here.

So, do you think McDavid should take less money for the Oilers to buy a goaltender?

See, if I saw that comment, I would reply like this, “See what happens when you play a 200 foot game. Maybe the Oilers should try it?

Wait, were they really complaining on the Nurse 4 minute that it wasn't a trip and therefore shouldn't have led to the unsportsmanlike conduct as well? lmao

Here's the crazy thing: a guy like Kevin Lankinen was only 800 K. Cam Talbot was a million. The Oilers can still afford a league average 1b goalie and be better off than they are now because Stuart Skinner is well below league average.
