Can't be worse than Podkolzin can he? Not a player that really jumps out at me when I've seen him but at least he's got some stats and is an NHL Player. Podz is an absolute bust and shouldn't even be here. Not sure if this is to replace Arvid or team already having second thoughts on Pods who looks like he might never score.
You complain a lot.

Prediction: You will not like Kasperi's game, although his only goal (and point) this season was a beauty. He is fast but stupid.

Also: Nice to see all of you again. Been following the Penquins lately, as some of you propably guessed.

So, how do the Oilers fit him into the lineup? I wonder who if anyone goes down?
I mean Josh Brown is the obvious choice.

If Arvidsson is back, it gets interesting, if Arvidsson is still, much simpler.

Nuge - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Perry
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
Skinner - Ryan - Kapanen

Ekholm - Bouchard
Kulak - Emberson
Dermott - Stetcher

Jimmi, we have to stop agreeing.

It’s not good for my reputation. ;)

I wonder if his toughness isn't something that Oilers could really use?

I was thinking more of a forward in terms of guys going down.
I can be wrong but I think he’s much more a liability as a dman than an asset as a toughness role guy.

With VA out it’s pretty easy to spot him in instead of Josh B. When Arvidsson returns, I’d be tempted to sit Skinner if Kapenen is showing any signs of life.

So many what ifs for fringe players…

Living out east I got to watch a lot of Kapanen when he was a Leaf.

He would enter the zone with speed, button hook, then immediately lose the puck. Just reminded me a typical Decade Of Darkness type player. He'll be about as effective as MPS.

The good news, is that his 1 goal this season is tied for 9th best for forwards on this team with Nuge, and Janmark.

If we add more stone hands to the lineup, it could actually circle back to them having silky smooth hands.

Late to the party on this, but I’m not sure hanging our hat on yet another veteran who’s whose hands are seemingly turning into cinderblocks is the right answer but when you’re grasping at straws, you’re going to get what you get.

How sad is it that we reduced to waver wire claims and literally have nobody to call up, no young players to push the veterans for ice time, look like we’re skating in concrete, and we’re supposed to be the Stanley Cup favourites this year.

I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry, but 20 games in and the preseason of old and slow is now a reality and we’re doubling down on it. Jeff Jackson looked like a wizard July 1 but here we are in the middle of November and the pointy wizard hat he was wearing might’ve just been a pointy dunce cap…

Edit - I thought Kapanen was over 30 but he’s only 28. Doesn’t change my point of view, but I doubt he helps much if at all and is a glaring condemnation of our gang that can’t shoot straight.

He will end up back on waivers in a few weeks. Rather Philp be up but whatever. This doesn’t hurt us.
