Post-Game Talk: Oilers beat the odds

Things have been going nothing but wrong for this team since the end of January, but I feel like we’re finally getting a little bit of momentum and confidence in our game back.

Despite some competence issues from some at times, there is a good level of compete through the lineup. Need to build on that then inject hopefully healthy and rested stars.

I’m just glad we have Stetcher and Klingberg to keep him down in the playoffs honestly.

Imo Stecher's more or less run away with the #6 spot. I don't think Emberson or Klingberg have been close to his level of play.

Truth be told, I might be more tempted to tap Josh Brown or Phil Kemp if Stecher's size becomes an issue against the Kings.

You were fine with Pickard s$%ting the bed against the Kraken, yet you bash Skinner at every turn.

What's your thoughts on that?

Should we be defending him when thats the stretch of play he's put up?

Pickard played better than Hill, but still had a slightly negative GSAx.

Those last two are likely a net positive

Klingberg is a waste of money that could've been better spent on James Reimer or a decent goalie. And I feel more confident in the team with Stu out...especially on the first eight to ten shots.

Whoa whoa whoa

We only have room for one shitty brown on this team. And Connor is less shit than Josh. And that’s saying something :)

Pickard came up huge at the end when he pushed out to cut down the angle and space for the vegas shooter with like 90 seconds left.

Something you'll never see about overweight skinjob.

Please post where I was fine with Picard shitting the bed v Seattle. I’ve given Skinner plenty of credit when he’s been on his game. I often say there is good Skinner and bad Skinner, you just never know who’s going to show up.

Skinner has been absolute garbage since January and that is an absolute statistical fact stamped in concrete that is undeniable.

My comment about the Oilers not winning tonight with Skinner in net is based on those performances and the style of goals that he commonly lets in.

Have I lost faith in Skinner for this year? Yes.

Brown could be of some value against a big and heavy team.

Not much doubt that the team is more confident with Pickard in the net. We haven't seen the obvious frustrations coming from the bench.

Knob will have to admit to himself that his best goalie isn't great but he looked good tonight. How can he start the playoffs with Stu given what we've seen here?

Stu's save percentage is .1000 when you take away all the goals that were NOT HIS FAULT, GUYS!

Emberson might need more cooking

We saw the skill early in the year. Might just be in over his head right now.

D man don’t always grow in straight lines. Hopefully we can get a small contract with him to see what we can do with more development

A bit like Bouch, Emberson's game started to come round when he started playing a lot with Ekholm on the PK.

When he's with Kulak in tough defensive situations, they're just too weak in front of the net; and Emberson is really struggling with hearing footsteps in the corner.

The only way I'd have Emberson in during the playoffs is if you can have Ekholm is next to him.
Considering Walman-Bouchard are holding their own and we've seen Nurse-Kulak also excel, there is some potential for that idea.

Nurse-Kulak
Walman-Bouchard
Ekholm-Emberson

Still I prefer Stecher at this point. Reward the guy who's playing better hockey.

Pickard had bad games and goals allowed in that stretch too, the whole team was bad. But to you its all on Skinner.
