Nice to see Nuge snipe one. Maybe that will quell the yearly Nuge slander for a bit. You know he's been here for 15 years now, always a good to great player depending on the year. How has he not earned any rope from us at this point. Nuge will be Huge, always has been, always will be.

Beauty pass too to start the 2nd too. NUUUUUUGEEEEEEEEEEE

Nuge and Hyman waking up has been a major part of our offensive resurgence. Hyman’s woes were more bad luck than bad play, but Nuge was frankly rancid for about the first 20 games, a total black hole.

Not a coincidence that the PP, PK, and scoring in general all got going when he got it together. He’s the connective tissue to a lot of aspects of the Oilers game, and when he is off it throws things out of sync.

Hope all our players keep in their heads that they can take down Hill at will. Let him turn into another Markstrom for us :)

Whenever a goalie has given the Oilers problems it usually just takes us lighting him up once to open the floodgates. Hope that’s the case here, Hill has been basically the only reason they’ve won against us over the last while.

Nurse haters in shambles. His game going to another lvl is huge for this team

I've been as critical of Nurse as anyone over the last couple years, and let's be honest here...he deserved it.

That being said, he's currently playing like a high-end #1, and it's a thing of beauty. The pass he made tonight to Drai was f***ing awesome.

Honestly to me, it seems like his lateral mobility, and ability to pivot has much improved which is allowing him to get to pucks dumped in behind him quicker, and square up to players with possession on his periphery.

Is there anything to this? It seems to me he's been reported as having some hip issues over the last couple of years which would explain this.

Regardless, he's currently more than earned his contract so far this year. The man has been an absolute beast at both ends of the ice, and looks like he's having a ton of fun out there.

Well deserved redemption arch, that might actually be the biggest boon this team could have possibly asked for.

He's been our best defenseman by a f***ing country mile.

Leafs have got there on excellent goaltending as well. The Oilers are at that mark with essentially average goaltending. I'm not sure how likely Stolarz/Woll are to keep this up over a full season. I guess we'll see.

It’s an annual theme in Toronto for random goalie X to randomly pop off and have a good regular season. Unfortunately for them, random goalie X usually gets hurt or falls back to earth just in time for the playoffs each year.

Sens in a wildcard playoff spot for now. Oilers just smoked the two best teams

Think I'll celebrate with some A and W

The Sentors being in a playoff position underscores just how bad the eastern conference is (no offense).

There might be 3 or 4 actual good teams in that conference. Maybe.

Sickens me really that Bettman NHL has Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Vegas, Dallas names on cup. Lord Stanleys Trophy that was given to Canada that Canadian teams haven't won since 93. If the NHL lasts another 50yrs people will wonder about these names on the cup and Mexico City and all these have hockey teams. (I'm predicting the future)
Hopefully the Canadian teams stop hiring complete f***ing idiots to run the show and they get out of their own way en route to a Cup.

Bettman doesn't have to do anything, the franchises all do themselves in. Other than maybe Winnipeg who I think is consistently pretty good.

It's by design. It's the worst kept secret in the NHL that the sunbelt is Bettman's pet project. It's why Sunbelt teams get away with literally cheating (ie. Tampa faking Kucherov and other players' injury statuses to go 20 million above the cap, Stone's injury severity always suddenly flaring up 3 months before playoffs etc) and Arizona being given handout after handout for over a decade, when if the same franchise were located in Canada, or heck even Northeast America, the team would've been relocated in the early 2010s.

Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t call out the embarrassing age 40+ Golden Knights bandwagon jumpers. It’s one thing for 5 year olds to chase the cool new expansion team that won, but when you have grey hair it can’t be described as anything other than pathetic.

I will say though that the volume of Golden Knights bandwagon jumpers at the game yesterday appeared to be at an all time low. Funny how that works.

I feel like Coffey finally unlocked Nurse.

Huh? The Oilers have had much more playoff success than the Jets. Best they did was get Gentleman’s Swept by the Golden Knights that one year and haven’t been able to make it out of the first round otherwise, aside from that one time where they were swept

Emberson and that silly Podkolzin aren’t Holloway and Broberg, but they’re not that far off either
Emberson and Pod are much better fits for the roster roles the Oilers need while Broberg and Holloway are getting pumped up on a bad team because of what they’re paying them.

Were paying these two a combined 1.9M while Holloway and Broberg cost almost 7M combined, not to mention the additional assets and cap space will allow Edmonton more targeted additions.

The Oilers don’t miss Holloway or Broberg at all, we are a better team this year without them than we were last year with them.

Hey I'll take what I can get

Also Washington is playing at a very high level right now. Maple leafs look solid as always in regular season but will choke in playoffs

Florida was looking solid until the last couple games. Oilers shouldnt have much trouble with them Monday , but we will see. They will be desperate for a win

But but but speed, youth, potential, and Jackson is terrible... :sarcasm:
