Didn't get a chance to watch the full game unfortunately, happy with the win. Looks like we got a little sloppy after 5-0? Sounds like there was some reffing BS too.

Man the current rendition of this team has been so much fun to watch. Just walking down heavy weight teams on the score boards.

Leon's playing like the best player in the league (he normally is in the playoffs anyways) with the best player in the world in tow. Nurse is playing like 9.25, Bouch is elite and absolute gamer in the playoffs, Ekholm the Viking and a strong cast to come along with the ride. Hopefully Kane is playoff ready and skate before the hip injuries because a line of Kane Drai and Podz will absolutely paint towns red.

Not sure since last time I've enjoyed an Oilers team like I do this one.

Knob and Coffey. Not to limit how instrumental Coffey has been in implementing where D do much more with puck to get zone outs and transition. More expectation on more D to make breakout plays. That and the good jumps into offense means it often looks like we have more players on ice. The D are being so effective and such a huge part of this club. All of them. This is the best D performance found anywhere in the league and Coffey has them have their own Lunch spot in the room and the only forward thats been allowed to sit with them is Draisaitl. hmmm.

Coffey is elevating D on the ice and in the room. D are cool. D are bosses. Its the message. Works perfectly with KK's solid Clare Drake type game plan and the forwards buying into responsible play and the best back pressure you find in the league right now.

We're playing Golden Bears hockey but with generational skill on ice.
For sure. I just say Knob hockey as a short hand, not to discount Coffey's contributions. Coffey's philosophy of wanting more from his defenceman, kind of a reverse of the "less is more" mantra, and I've said in the past, sometimes "more is also more". Defenceman that can make plays and that try to make impacts beyond being "safe".

The best defencemen this league has ever seen, those that win Norris's, those that become legend like Coffey himself were guys who could who wanted to make plays and guys who could make plays. What's innovative about Coffey, is that he expects and thinks that any defenceman can do it. It's not just reserved for the Duncan Kieths, EK65s, Coffeys, Bouchards etc of the world. Every defenceman can bring a bit more within their skillset, and Coffey does a masterful job of getting that out of them.

Nice win

Leon Draisaitl has been an absolute beast

30GP 22G 23A 45P +18 and a tidy ~57% on faceoffs on the year

Wowee

A season nobody has really talked about at all outside of Edmonton and he should be the full on Hart favorite right now.

Some posters on this board wanted to move on from him because of the new contract lmfao.

Yep. I made a couple comments during game as well that the Vaunted Vegas D in this game were being completely outclassed by the Oilers D. League and pundits really sleeping on how good our D are playing. We weren't the ones letting opponents just walk in our crease pounding pucks all day or giving pucks away constantly in ownzone. Vegas D were not impressive today. Hill wasn't either but he was furious at his own team after the 5-0 goal and should be. On every goal Vegas coverage was suspect. 2 of the goals Vegas D assisted on.

I haven't watched the game yet, but I will be on the lookout for that comparison. With Vegas D I think they are supreme in their adherence to the system, and they are built to play that system to a tee. Bruce Cassidy knows his zone D, and that's great, but so do we. And if we can match them on that front but bring more focus and execution on playmaking from our D, we can surpass them for sure.

He’s been a good fit, just wish he put up more points in his role. But ultimately he has helped Drai excel and that’s more than you can ask most players.

He has 6 points in his last 9 games which isn't bad considering he is a monster on the boards and can play physical, makes smart plays.

Don't write off players after 15 or 20 games, it's a process especially with young guys.

Dylan Holloway had 4 points total last year in his 30th game played.

Well we knew the shooting percentage would regress positively but this is just sexy the past few games.

Me likey.

Side note that Nurse has effing great. So nice to see
I remember arguing with a few folks early In the year about this. It was obvious those stats would stabilize. They thought the season was over 8 games in

I get in the moment it’s annoying, but it just wasn’t sustainable. We were at like 4-5 percent right at the beginning

It’s hard to stay the course. But team is rolling!!!
