AKA, do this and keep a lid on it until things turn ugly and we have to sacrifice someone not named Kevin or Craig. Stu may get the axe this summer and hopefully pro scouting gets revamped. That said ultimately our upper management blows.

exactly, tho I doubt any kind of an audit taking place.

btw, Dave Semenko will not be fired.

the sad part is

1) We know that there will be change in the higher brass
2) The Philosophy of the team wont change
3) Problems started with Rookie GMs not knowing what they were doing
4) Problem continued when rookies GM meddled with an experience coach in who to play

All of this ugliness will blow over once the excitement of the new arena opening is closer. Oiler fans will be so enamored with the new downtown building and surrounding infrastructure that the state of the team will take a back seat.

Katz knows this...Lowe knows this.
You can read it in Nicholsons comments as well.

Season ticket sales wont falter one bit...the shortsightedness of being a part of something new and exciting will dominate the optics around this team as soon as 2016 is upon us.

Katz will still be the owner....Lowe will still be the POHO. MacT will likely still be the GM and everybody will rejoice in the wonder of the new building.

Book it.

Well some of us don't give 2 squirty ***** about the new arena... we'd just like to see a competitive Oilers team again in our lifetime... and hopefully playoffs one day for some entertaining, meaningful hockey.

I get that the arena will be a boon to Edmonton and it's population but really Katz & Co. can shove all the glitz and hype right up their ***** because all that doesn't make any difference if the team continues to be crap on ice for years to come.

Cue the glitter + **** memes 4ever.

And the team will still suck.

And they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids.

Katz has to be smiling bigger than anybody else today. He just won the financial lottery....McDavid will absolutely line his pockets for years to come.

The other bonus is that ALL the attention will now be removed from his BFF's in Management.

Great day for Oiler fans...even better day for Daryl Katz.

Now would be the perfect time for Nicholson to reveal that his audit is over and Lowe/Howson/MacT are gone.

This would be a good time for Katz to take a serious look. For the first time since he bought the Oilers, he might think he really has an opportunity to build something special. With proper management, there is the possibility of an Oiler uprising. Even Katz has to see that with capable leadership, this franchise was just handed a brass ring. (no pun intended)

It's up to him what direction to take.
He can fade Lowe and MacT into the background and bring in quality people to turn this team around, or he can leave things as they are and watch Lowe and MacT flail around like a fish in the bottom of a boat.

Someone who is assessing things like culture and performance does not announce they are investigating. This just confirms it was all PR and the Hockey ops "fix" was a mid level promotion in the scouting department

We need to clean house tomorrow. We need a fresh start with McDavid leading the charge. Katz need to realize this

Agreed

It's like death threats on twitter, no one who is actually going to kill someone announces to the world what they are planning.

However, since MacT fired Krueger by Skype; should Nicholson fire MacT by Twitter?

I kind of feel bad for the management and scouting department. All that hard work preparing for the draft all went out the window winning the lottery. They worked harder on this draft than any of them have worked in their lives and it was all for nothing. The consensus pick will be made and and probably other picks traded. It just isn't fair. Doubt they'll ever be fooled into working that hard again.
