this is a fun thread. Oilers lose, some posters come out in droves. The oilers win? Those posters go MIA. I just find it wild the oilers were 20pts behind Vegas for awhile
All part of the plan.... Edmonton will be super tired for the playoffs..... and we will be super rested for the golf course

How are we gonna somehow end up with Oilers/Kings in the first round again...

Just throwing this out there about pointing to mid-late season runs, not saying I don’t think they will be a serious contender

But yea didn’t they finish strong the last two seasons as well? Start weak, finish strong, “we’re one of the best teams”, then some of the old early season problems pop back up in the playoffs

Much of it’s matchups getting hot at the right time
Looking at the past 48 games isn’t exactly a mid-late season run. They have been very strong for months now.

Agreed the playoffs are a different animal but the Oilers have proven they can play with anyone and will be poised to do some damage in the postseason barring serious injuries.

McDrai is split up!

Solid forward core for sure.... now about Ceci or VD in the Top 4????

I've seen this one before:
-Oilers and LA play against each other in playoffs
-Coach Splits up McDavid and Draisaitl in an attempt to spread talent
-LA is able to to contain each of them when they're on a separate line
-Coach puts McDavid and Draisaitl together to regain momentum
-Their raw talent cannot be contained by LA and they score a few
-The rest of the roster is motivated and starts scoring
-LA loses every other playoff game by 5
-Blake says we're a contender and sends 87 prospects out for the next hype acquisition

You forgot the end of the story...

Oilers go to round 2. McDrai get contained by Avs or Knights. No one else can score. Cody Ceci is in our Top 4 and we are out again.

FWIW... I think LA's got a great squad and hate playing you guys in the playoffs.

If their goaltending holds out they're gonna win the cup this year. They've been my pick for a good while now.
That’s been the general consensus in the media as well and why so many picked them to win the cup at start the season. If edm had better playoff goaltending they at least make the finals last year and maybe even win it all. Skinner just needs to be average and they have a a serious shot.

There's still room for an upgrade on that 3rd line. It would be awesome to get a 3C, shift McLeod over to the RW, and bump Perry down to the 4th line, with Ryan coming out. It's not essential of course, but a 3C who can help Foegele and McLeod score a bit more would be a bonus.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my bitching!lol

I think 2RW is fine with Kane, now that Henrique is getting a look at 2LW, no? I know some have issues with his consistency (I do too), but he's not a 3rd liner. I'd say the biggest holes are 2RD, 3C, and backup.

I like the players they added at the deadline.

Allows RNH to move up and adds depth to the bottom 6

Stetcher is small but capable

Stars, Avs, Knights and Oilers looking like the jewels of the west on paper.

Give it a couple of periods... particularly if the Oilers are behind.
For sure but I don't mint that... end of periods, after a PK, after a TV timeout, third if we are down. Of course... every coach would do that.
