Here we go again !
Connor needs five points in this series to pass Ovechkin on the all time playoff scoring list - insane (also he is only 9 points back of Marchand)
That is what I am afraid of. When I watched the games against TO, they called FLA for a lot. TO would get 5PP's in a gameObstruction and interference has won more cups than any individual team. Call the damn stuff. Vegas and LA tried that shit and we womped them anyway. They need to call Florida on it period.
Yes, we get weak borderline calls against. Florida clutches, grabs and their fans think it’s finishing the check or something. Never mind the dirty stick work. That is what I am afraid of. When I watched the games against TO, they called FLA for a lot. TO would get 5PP's in a game
For us, it doesn't mater who we play, calls just are made wayyy less

I think Podz will be great in this series. I know it's winger versus centre but man having Podz going into the corners this year versus Mcleod last year is night and day. I think he is more effective than Foegele in a lot of ways as well. He will be important
Yet those Football leagues are the hottest entities of any sport, any continent, and are everywhere.I've had similar arguments with a friend of mine from England. The concept of playoffs utterly baffles him, just like the concept of just handing the Cup to first place team at the end of the year baffles us.
I don't know how you would even derive enjoyment from their system especially if you're really good. "This has been telegraphed since about January and has rendered almost every game for half of the season in the whole league irrelevant, but now that April is over you're STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!"
I can feel my buzz dying just thinking about it.
Kane isn't some depth player. He's a topsix player on almost all teams in the league. he's a star player on almost all teams in the league. He'd be the best player on several teams in the league.Lets take a quick look at playoff points from our depth guys last year:
Foegele 8
Holloway 7
McLeod 4
Broberg 3
=22 points
Kane 11
Podkolzin 6
Walman 6
Arvidsson 5
= 28 points
Our depth players this playoffs have already outperformed our depth players last year.
Robertson on the block, DeBoer firing probably.
When the Oilers decide to kill a franchise era in the playoffs they don’t half ass it lol.

A rested Perry and a rested Kane help us with some of that scoring. We'll see how it plays out. It makes sense that our depth scoring is higher this year. Our depth is composed of all seasoned vets who've been around the dance before. Last year our depth was futures players. For the one shot this is what they went with but remembering this is pretty much a oneshot parlay with this lineup. I wouldn't have gone this way but it looks like its our best one shot at this point.McLeod, Foegele and Holloway all played top 6 last year in the playoffs at some point.
And we didn't have a healthy Kane last year but this year we do. I think we can both agree that Edmonton has more depth scoring than last year.
My only concern is trying to replace Hyman.
I do think DeBoer screwed up with Oettinger. Like there were probably better ways to handle that.poor babies. "Oh I wasn't treated well enough, oh words, he hurt me, he harmed me". If this was our club we'd be telling our players to man up a little. Instead of being weasels crying to management. You won't win anything ever with that kind of disposition.
Looks like Stars are compounding mistakes. lol that they feel like they can't pay Robertson but they paid Rantanen. Who did sweet f*** all in the conference final. Who completely disappeared once the competition got toughest. Say what you want but Deboer showed more compete in the elimination game than his team, except for Robertson, did. Remove those two from the equation and the elimination game is probably a 6-0 cakewalk.
If and hopefully they win, I hope Hyman is out there in his gear to raise the cup and not in suit. This is going to be hard without Hyman, but we can either fold or take this team out in 5 or less.
We do have a tough team. But it was really nice in the VGK’s series, when Frederic was able to stand up to Hague. Nurse and Kane could do it. But it’s better to have them on the ice.It is going to be Skinner that sits, and I don't agree with it, but I understand it. Florida is a very physical team as we all know, and Skinner is not a physical player as we all know. Frederic doesn't do much, but he does hit fairly often (4th in hits/60 on the team in the playoffs), and he is big and has an overall edge to his game (won't get rag dolled, is intimidating, etc etc). The thought process is that we have enough offensive weapons to score, and we need to match Florida physically, which I understand, but again, I disagree with.
I think we already have enough team toughness without Frederic, and with Hyman being out, our secondary scoring has taken a big hit. Our star players are not guys that need protection either, as they aren't small players. Skinner brings "one shot scoring" to the team, that nobody outside of McDrai, Kane and RNH has. I would keep Skinner in and sit Frederic, but I would be absolutely shocked if that happens when Brown comes back.
I watched that game with VGK when there was a massacre on the ice in the first period, never thought your team is pretty toughWe do have a tough team. Not understanding or appreciating the Stanley Cup Playoffs is a shame. Ultimate team sport tournament, perfectly suited for hockey, and commonly known as the hardest trophy in Pro Sports to win. Teams have to win 4 Best-Of-7's with no Penalty shootouts.Currently in a spat with a friend of mine over that.
He called me a complete and utter moron for falling for the NHL's propaganda that the playoffs are different from the regular season. Said we're all fools for watching 82 meaningless games. Said it should be like soccer, 2 matches against each team whomever wins the league wins the cup.
That's what pissed me off last year...The biggest thing for me is how little their fans care. Their attendance was as bad as you could get for years, and their cup parade was a farce. It sucks seeing teams with passionate fans (not just us) suffer while they succeed
Little wonder everyone hates us.Killed Calgary
Killed Vancouver
Killed Dallas
Edmonton is Natural Born Killers
