Kind of the same for MLB, NFL and NBA too isn't it?

I mean they do celebrate when they win that in season tourney in NBA, but I haven't heard a lick about it since
MLB makes a big deal about winning the division. Heck even making the playoffs causes a crazy celebration.

Euro sports also make bigger deals about winning the league.

Currently in a spat with a friend of mine over that.

He called me a complete and utter moron for falling for the NHL's propaganda that the playoffs are different from the regular season. Said we're all fools for watching 82 meaningless games. Said it should be like soccer, 2 matches against each team whomever wins the league wins the cup.

The Oilers will have to contain that 3d line for FLA. They were pretty much all PPG players this playoffs I think. That friggin Marchand addition was huge.

They should do from 1980-2025 next and see who’s #1 ;)

It ain’t Toronto

Edmonton is #1 in Wins since 1980, but surprisingly Dallas is actually #2.

Pittsburgh was first going into these playoffs, but Edmonton tied them in the Vegas Game 5 victory. Dallas followed that up quickly by making it a 3-way tie after winning Game 1 in the Conference Finals, but Edmonton took over sole possession in Game 2 and is now 1st by 4 wins.

Edmonton is also number 1 in winning percentage over that span.

I've had similar arguments with a friend of mine from England. The concept of playoffs utterly baffles him, just like the concept of just handing the Cup to first place team at the end of the year baffles us.

I don't know how you would even derive enjoyment from their system especially if you're really good. "This has been telegraphed since about January and has rendered almost every game for half of the season in the whole league irrelevant, but now that April is over you're STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!"

I can feel my buzz dying just thinking about it.

As far as Florida injuries go I think they have a few.

Tkachuk is playing through something

Reinhart missed a game and is probably still hurt

Greer missed a couple games I think

Mikkola missed either a game or practice. I’d smash that f***er any chance they can get.

Luostiranen or whatever the f*** missed a game too.

Ekblad seems to get injured every season so hopefully they smash him too

you should tell your friend the NHL has something called parity. PSG (who justwon the champions league) has a payroll of 658 million vs inter milan 232 million. PSG won 5-0 lol.

Inter is actually one of the bigger clubs in Europe too lol.

If you are responsible defensively and trust all 4 lines then why the hell counter with anything? Lol knob head says he is comfortable putting anyone of his 4 lines against any opponents lines.
IMO, Oil D is as good as 1987. For that reason, Oil forwards can match up against anything Maurice puts out there. Getting Ekholm back was frickin MASSIVE. By G3 he’ll be back to 20min TOI.

I woke up this morning and remembered I hate the f*cking Florida Panthers and everyone who cheers for them.

The biggest thing for me is how little their fans care. Their attendance was as bad as you could get for years, and their cup parade was a farce. It sucks seeing teams with passionate fans (not just us) suffer while they succeed

Robertson on the block, DeBoer firing probably.

When the Oilers decide to kill a franchise era in the playoffs they don’t half ass it lol.

Inmates running the asylum. Maybe the players should have played better Ahem Mikko Rantanen…. Love to see the Stars blow things up in the same vein as Vancouver and Calgary lol.

I refuse to purchase any Conference Champions or Cup Finals apparel unless we actually win the Cup. Both items become almost instantly unwearable if we lose.
My birthday is July 3 so if the Oilers win the cup, a nice shiny new Edmonton Oilers 2025 Stanley Cup Champions ball cap will be at the top of my wish list. I'll sticker up my hard hat for work too.

I can see DeBoer on the bus heading out of town but Robertson is still a young player and he played pretty well the last few games of the Oiler series.

Last time I was in Florida (a few years ago) people talked about Nascar racing the whole time--nobody mentioned the NHL to me.
