I’m already reading and hearing about how “mCDaViD hAsNt PLayEd BarkOV YeT!”

Yet again, it’s stunning how the same dumb, lazy, and already disproven narratives get dusted off every year no matter who we play. Kypreos was droning on about how he “shut down” McDavid last Final, only to be pointed to the fact he had 11 points in 7 games. Pretty sure Barkov ended that series deep in the - too.

Can set a clock to it. Oilers certain to be beat by some vague superlative like “depth!” or “what about this one player that will shut them down!” God I hope we just punt them and shut all these idiots up.
Would not it be Draisaitl who would be mostly playing against Barkov?

Yup
This team has confidence they can beat them this time around
They showed it in Games 4, 5 and 6 last year and Game 7 was a toss up

They had a “happy to be here” vibe after the first 2 games last year and only woke up in the 3rd period of Game 3
I think it’s a different vibe this time around
Everytime I see McDrai's faces this playoff run, it's like they're remembering losing last year and look angry. Don't expect any "happy to be here" vibes this year. The Oilers core are all back and experienced that heartbreak last year.

Not going to lie, I really prefer keeping Skinner in the lineup, even if Brown is good to go.

RNH-McDavid-Perry
Kane-Drai-Kap
Frederic-Henrique-Skinner
Podz-Janmark-RV

It's the cup final, and I'd rather take the run them over approach vs. anything else by having one of McDavid, Draisaitl, Skinner, and RV coming over the boards every shift. Mix in the fact they'd also be running Kane and Kap, Fred, Podz, and Perry out every shift, and you have the recipe to keep physical and offensive pressure on them at all times.

Basically it's a lineup that will wear you down shift after shift, and will always have someone on the ice who's capable of taking advantage of a breakdown. Plus each line has as a solid defensive backbone with RNH-McDavid, Drai-Kap, Frederic-Rico, and Podz-Janmark, so I'm not concerned in the least about any of them getting caught out on the ice against any competition.
I guess it depends on how many PKs the Oilers get. Isn't Brown one of your good PKers? I know he was amazing when he was with the Sens. I was sad to see him go but really liked that he landed in Edm.

The reason I am optimistic about this series is for 2 reasons. Knob, and our defense. Towards the back half of the finals last year, Knob figured out how to beat the ultra aggressive Panthers forecheck by moving the puck up quickly to create odd man rushes. Think of all the goals the Oilers scored in games 4-7, they finally figured out how to counter their forecheck. Our defense 1-6 is a much better puck moving defense than any team Florida has faced so far, so we’re even better poised to take advantage of that forecheck that creates quick strike opportunities.

Combine that with our elite rush defence- we’ve just faced 3 elite rush teams and our rush defence has improved leaps and bounds from last year. We choked out LA, Vegas, and Dallas, 3 of the best rush teams in the west, with ease. If the Oilers don’t make stupid mistakes and play to their potential, they should come out on top.

If anybody attempts this MT will snap that head back so fast

Was this in the reg season or last series?

Oil don’t lack in the physical side of the game. Atchoo is a p***y and the rest of them can be neutered. I’d love to see Mikkola’s arm pointing in three directions if you catch my drift. Kinda like what happened to Zach.

If the Oilers win the Cup does McDavid get the C for the Olympics or is that already Sid’s?

If he captains a Cup winning team after scoring the GWG for Canada in the 4 Nations, he’d be a pretty strong candidate for captain Canada.

A Cup and a couple golds for Canada all within a year would be the dream

Crosby will be the captain of that team regardless of what happens. And McDavid wouldn't have it any other way.
