If they want to take it into the alley, I don't think this team has a problem with that. They can deal with the shenanigans and then light them up on the PP (of course we'll get 1 PP for every 2 of their's but they're used to that too).
You’re not wrong. But a big difference is that the Oilers are stand up tough while FLA is dirty tough. I don’t like them and don’t trust them.

As you shouldn't. But much like last year, Florida backed off the bully approach when they saw the Oil were also willing to fight fire with fire (think Carrick's slash on Kulikov or Drai's elbow on Barkov).

It would have been interesting to see how they(FLA) matched up with Washington had they gotten past Carolina. Florida has without a doubt earned their success, but they've also consistently drawn teams that don't have much of a backbone the last couple years.

Yeah. The Oilers need to be fully disciplined, and don't start any shit with them. We all know they love to rile up other teams and do some shady stuff. We just need to walk away from it and let them look stupid. Don't give them any fuel.

Went to StubHub. Cheapest ticket I have seen is 1K lol. A lot of my family flew out to FLA last year for the games there and have seasons here. I haven't bought seasons yet.

LMAO that was their big thing outside?

God We need to win it and show the US what a REAL celebration looks like

Yes. It was pathetic. It's even worse that they were walking on the streets with the cup and people thought they were holding some hunk of metal found in an alleyway. It's a f***ing embarrassment that teams in the south US win a cup. Their fanbase is just f***ing clueless.

Any Oilers fan that picks the Panthers deserves a perma ban. You're either in it with us or you're out even if you truly believe that the Oilers won't win and why would you believe that after what this team has shown.
There are 4 rejects who picked them and I do not think they post on HfOil

It's like that Bob Stauffer story in 2006. He was across the street at a bar on game 7 day in Carolina. He said most of the people had no idea. Nascar country baby!

We're back in Florida's swampy town again. Can't wait to smell all the Shreks down there once more.

Oh and don't forget their "Stanley Cup parade" for their MASSIVE fan base of 100 people:

That sad scene is literally what those players ask for, I guess. It's why they want to play in Florida: so they can win the cup and party on a second floor balcony of a bar that looks like it's not even the fancy option at a double-tree hotel, in front of literally dozens of people. Never mind there are more players and team staff than fans at their party, because at least the players get to keep their anonymity. . .

Our guys would be at Commonwealth like back in the day, besides a regular parade.

Why we'll win:

- We have the better players up front by a country mile. Unlike past opponents they legitimately have depth scoring, but are lacking in top end with Tkachuk hobbled.

- We're a better team that doesn't have a line or a pair that is a pure liability anymore

- Home ice will be a massive difference maker. I think we win last year if nothing else changes other than just having home ice.

- We exit the puck quicker and more effectively compared to last year and it will stave off their forecheck

- Any of the three teams we beat are better than any of the teams the Panthers beat IMO. We're more battle tested against better teams.

- We know how to play them and how to beat them already. We don't need to do the thing we normally do where we dip our toes in before figuring it out after being down a few games. We can start hot.

- We can shift our lineup around a bunch of different ways to counter matchups that aren't working

- If Skinner falters we have a no doubt option in Pickard

- Bobrovsky isn't as hot this playoff, and we figured him out last year. He won't have the run from Game 1 - 3 he had last year.

- Lastly, but probably most importantly, maturity. This is an infinitely more mature team than last year. We won't lose games because of lack of detail (Game 1) or getting caught losing in pressure moments (Game 2, 3 and 7). We'll know how to perform out of the gate.

Why we won't win:

- As always, goaltending. Home ice is a massive advantage until he possibly throws one away on home ice. My fear is he tosses one of Game 1 or 2 and then the series changes because of it. We cannot afford to throw one away this time like we did against the Knights and Stars.

- We get on the wrong side of dirty play or post whistle nonsense in critical moments. We know how the Panthers play, but we need to just let that happen and not get sucked into anything dumb. We handicapped ourselves early in the Stars series because we couldn't control ourselves and we can't do it again. Hit them hard and often, but don't do shit after the whistle.

- They have a big defence that can box out well a la Vegas, but better at it. There is some risk of getting locked into a tight 2-1, 3-2 type series where goaltending and small details become even more magnified.

My prediction:

We win both in Edmonton, Panthers win Game 3, we take Game 4, then win the Stanley Cup in Edmonton in Game 5. Go get it done and give me the peace of knowing that if I happen to die at the end of June, at least I can go having seen my team win a Stanley Cup.

Last couple finals appearances we have had to have massive comebacks.

Hopefully the team can really be assertive the first couple games and get a lead

All three cup finals they lost, they went down 2-0 in the series (83, 06, 24).
All five cup finals they won they either split the first two games (84, 85) or went up 2-0 (87, 88, 90).

Going with this team's tendancy to get better as a series goes along, it's absolutely imperative they win at least one of the first two games, especially with the games being at home.

The group seems to be much better at riding momentum game to game this playoff, where before I feel like they would kill the opponent one game, only to lay down the next.

Game 1 could almost be the series, because I think if we win that game playing the right way we are going to be incredibly difficult to hold off in Game 2.

Calgary puck users are the equivalent of a cuck who can't satisfy their wives. Have to bandwagon a superior team because they can't perform.

Cuck is a great description as they willingly cheer for the players that shit on their team on the way out the door just to hate on another team. I don't blame them for not cheering for Edmonton, but it boggles the mind that they'd actively cheer for people who cheated on them. if the roles were reversed I'd just ignore the game or cheer something happening to shut down the league.

Really didn't think the team had it in them to get this far even as recently as a month ago.

Not sure if this is unpopular but assuming Brown is good to go for game 1 I think it should be Frederic who sits.
Yeah Frederic has done nothing. For a big guy he doesn't seem to bring what Hyman had to offer in terms of hits....

I think this Oiler team is going to elevate the totality of their game in a way that blows our minds, in the finals.

As Randy Bachman sang, “ya ain’t seen nothing yet”.
