As a Flint fan, I think most people here have it a bit right. They’ll be ok, maybe pretty good and they do have assets but until I see how the group comes together and how management USES those assets I wouldn’t rank them much higher. I really like dirty12’s list. Flint should contend for the Division title vs Saginaw. They have more assets and if Saginaw hits a rough patch pre-deadline I could see Drinkell doing a soft sell. I think some people might have them ranked a bit high. They are returning some nice pieces but they are losing A LOT. Same with Erie, they’ve got a nice group of forwards a couple high-end D but goaltending is a question mark for now and they don’t have the assets to acquire much if they need it or injuries hit. Although it wont shock me if they blow every last pick they have and put themselves right back in the hole they were in coming out of the pandemic. Flint’s biggest advantage is Sarnia, Soo, Owen Sound, Kitchener all look to be in full rebuild, Windsor is super young and Guelph might sell off a bit too. It looks to be the softest Western Conf and Division I’ve seen in a decade.
The CHL has just released the CHL Top-10. Pre Season Edition. Brampton is 2nd, London 3rd, Oshawa 8th and Brantford 9th.

Why not? If they’re the best teams they’re the best teams. I would 10000% put them over Brantford atleast right now

No reason to have Brantford over Barrie at this point. I’ve been critical of the Fronts and I think the Fronts are ahead of Brantford.

I agree I'd put them in over Brantford. At this point, its doesn't matter. It'll sort itself out in time.

As I explained numerous times, Brampton is the clear favourite in the east ahead of Oshawa so there’s ZERO surprise they’d be ranked so high.
Barrie is developing a nice young team, but they’re nowhere close to being ready to challenge for a championship. They’re where Brampton/Mississauga was at this point last year.

The colts defence and goalie are definitely ready to challenge for a championship. And the colts are deep at forward; there are 2-‘05s, 2-‘06s, ‘07, ‘08 vying for 4th line minutes.

If Barrie Fan is happy with the team this year, then I’m happy for Barrie Fan.
The reality is, they don’t have nearly enough talent and nowhere close to enough experience to be championship contenders.
Jelsma getting hurt ensures that he’ll be back as an OA - - albeit not until mid November. York is a third line plugger and as an OA, that’s not good enough for a championship contender.
The other OA spot has two no-talent hacks to choose from - - Wiggle or Jodoin. Those are 4th line scrubs, not what you want to be wasting an OA spot on.
Aitcheson is only 17, Patterson and Beaudoin are only 18. They’re a year away from being legit front line pieces on a championship contender.
Ok. I might be a bit mixed up. I thought you were the homer, and I am not a committed fan of any team; I thought it is Wigle that could be considered the 3rd line grinder not York; and I thought Aitcheson though a bit later, was born in the same year as Danford.

There’s a big difference between an average team and a championship level team, my friend.
Tai York is a second line player on the former, but nothing more than a third line plug on the latter.
When you’re confused with player evaluations, a good exercise to help find clarity is to ask yourself where a guy like York would have slotted among London’s forwards last year.
Here’s a hint - - it definitely wouldn’t have been in the top six.

York doesn’t need to play top 6.
Akey returns and they added Bertucci. Their top 3-4 on the back end is very solid. Decent goalie. Strong down the middle with Beaudoin, Jelsma and Gardiner. They have key components already in place.
They will really only need to add some depth scoring from the wing and could upgrade an OA cheaply to do it. Maybe add a depth D-Man for the 3rd pairing.

If a team is depending on Tai York to be one of their four best wingers, said team doesn’t have a hope in hell of contending for a championship.
A team with legitimate championship aspirations cannot be wasting an OA spot on a third line plugger.
Sammy Hillebrandt will be 20 years old this season and he has a grand total of thirty-nine (39) games at the OHL level. He had brief flashes in a couple of playoff games last year, but he’s entirely unproven.
I’m the first to acknowledge Barrie is putting together a good young team, but they’re a year away from having any realistic championship hopes.

Respectfully, you don’t have a clue when talking about Barrie.
Akey returns this year after missing almost the entire season last year. They added Bertucci who is one of the strongest D-Men in the league.
Jelsma gave the Generals fits last year in round one. He is stellar. Beaudoin is a beast and will make a huge step forward.
Maybe Gardiner plays 3C or maybe Wigle plays 3C? I dunno. Probably Wigle. Gardiner is a solid RW so they may choose to play him top 6 RW. I’m not sure how they will shake out their centres and shifting to wings.
I’m pretty certaint hey will upgrade their OA’s. You are correct about York. I don’t think he will be there after the deadline. I think they may keep Wigle but it is very likely they end up with Jelsma and two different OA’s. Time will tell but at least OA roster spots aren’t all that costly to add.
As of right now, I think they need one more 4-5 D-Man and a scoring RW. Other than that, I think they are pretty solid and are pretty close to being my pick int he Eastern Conference right now and I REALLY like Brampton. If Barrie is willing to move Parker Vaughn at the deadline, they will be able to add either one super elite player or two really solid PPG forwards.
A lot will change between now and the deadline and I have all of Oshawa, Brampton, and Barrie in a dead heat with the GM’s being the deciding factors for those three teams.
He will absolutely not regurgitate his rankings for everyone to plaster all over and call their own.
Something containing that much knowledge must be kept a secret for no one to know.
