OHL Hands out 15-game Suspension to Jake Marchment for "unacceptable private comments

Sure that's great. A total end around. Doesn't mean that it is not that it does not violate the tenants of free speech. Where does it end? It doesn't.

You point all of this BS and then say it is not a PC issue? What is it then? Misogyny in sports?

You have the right to say whatever you want to whoever you want, but there are always consequences.

If you go up to a random stranger and start insulting them to their face are you going to say they overreacted when they punched you in the mouth? Or that they were in the wrong because you have the right of free speech and he can't do anything about that?

He got exactly what he deserved. Disrespect and stupidity on that level should be punished, and no one should hide behind this "free speech" "The world is too PC" thing.

If you act like a jack*** then things like this are going to happen. Maybe next time he won't act like that when the situation presents itself.

Further to the free speech thing, I think Canada has a different definition of what free speech is. I'm not exactly sure what that is but it really is irrelevant. A private business can do whatever they want and they did.

Chalk me up as someone who thinks this is ridiculous. Sure, maybe a game or two but 15 is ridiculous. If this conversation was had verbally, there is nothing here. Those guys being kinda semi-public figures and even going so far to say the "do you know who I am" makes it stupid on their part. But at the same time, I just read a snipping of the conversation so who knows what the back and forth was. Nor do I need to even know. This was a private conversation and somebody (presumably the girls) chose to make this public. This is our society. Camera phones and screen shots. I was making fun of that recording of the "gay basher" in the Dallas airport the other day because the guy who shot the video's first reaction was to pull out his cell phone camera.

Well, other than learning about a prospect I didn't even know existed, all I can think about are these girl(s) now having to explain to their parents what Tinder is and why they're on it. Perhaps they'll follow Marchment's lead and claim their easy friend was misappropriating their phone, too

You would think one would really give thought to what they would say on a social media platform before the send something out, especially in this day and age.

It amazes me people are just plain dumb to write stuff like this when they know it will get out for public consumption. :shakehead

Show some maturity and just don't engage in something you know will turn out bad.
