GDT: Official Trade Deadline 2025 Thread: Lets not Tuch our tails between our legs

You can't whine about wanting a depth defenseman replacement and go at most a lateral move from Perbix/Lilleberg, makes no sense. It's either a clear upgrade or you rock Perbix/Raddysh/Lilliberg and not assume any risk. "Let's just trade one league minimum defenseman for another just cause"

I don't think any of them are bad enough where you'll find an upgrade for the same price.

I think it's more about having additional depth on the blueline (especially if not moving Perbix to create cap space), and having an additional vet LD so that Lilleberg doesn't necessarily have to be relied upon at all times (especially in the playoffs). It also helps in case of injury.

We already have a back-up LHD, it's Moser. There's already have enough coverage on L/R as it sits incase of injury.

Lilleberg can hold his own in limited minutes, he already showed that last year.

We have 7 defensemen. We'd probably need at least 8. If we can get Suter or Hanley or Blankenburg for cheap, I don't think we'd need to move any money out. It'd just be an additional guy.

Dennis Cholowski was waived last month, and the story on him was always his defensive ability. His stats with NYI this season aren't terrible.

Eh, not sure I agree about Lilleberg holding his own, especially if his minutes had to increase or he faced tougher matchups. He has a good future, but he's still inexperienced compared to many. If Moser has to play the left, that leaves both Raddysh and Perbix having to slot in on the right, which is also questionable.

Hopefully we didn’t pay extra for retention that we aren’t even going to use.

Use our 2nd round pick and make it happen

You're creating a problem that doesn't exist imo. And when it comes to Lilleberg, without him you will be heading for the playoffs soft as a baby's butt. He's slowed down on the physical play for a while to focus more on positioning. He's still learning.

But we all know he can hit real hard, other teams know this and will keep an eye on him when he's on the ice. There's less of a chance that key players on this team will become a target.

As for depth, Crozier played really well up here.
