I honestly think JBB is not gonna let 700k sit there and not use it.
I'm expecting another move between today and tomorrow, either a bottom sixer or a 3rd pair D.
Getting M. Geekie would slap, imagine?
From
Chaffee - Paul - Goncalves
Eyssimont - Glendening - Atkinson
to
Gourde - Paul - M.Geekie
Chaffee - Glendening - Goncalves
We want a long playoff run, and extra defensemen are useful.

There will likely be plenty of players on waivers today, so we might be able to claim someone.

Oh of course it is. That's kind of the point. I have ZERO questions about our ability to grind a game to death. But we have suffered at the hands of playoff overtime enough lately. If it gets to that point, perhaps insane gets me Tage Thompson clapping a shot home instead of another Cirelli grind shift and we pray Kucherov and Guentzel have the answer.

95% odds we're gonna grind with Gourde and Bjorkstrand. Which is perfectly fine. But all we're doing is doubling down on what we're good at. We aren't good at figuring out how to dig out anything OT winner. Stuff like that is why I'd even make a suggestion about moving Cirelli
We don't get to that point in the game without Cirelli.

You may very well be right. I concede that I am probably going to worry about how we score playoff goals until we get there. Constant 1-0 scores are a bad barometer for the true strength of your scoring depth just in case your structure breaks down.

Here's hoping Gourde and Bjorkstrand are the extra punch we need. They should be. But I know Coop is gonna use them grind another team to death

Constant 1-0 scores that have led to us being a top 5 scoring team in the league.

Getting shut outs is a bad barometer on your game lol wtf as opposed to what? Winning 9-6 and having the scoring go dry and you can't grind down a game? What a nit picky argument.

I slightly disagree. Not with the numbers. It *IS* top 5. But more like run the numbers from New Years. In first few months of the season I think I counted 3 games with 8 goals, a couple of 5's and 6's. I think what we've seen since New Years is more indicative of the identity our coaching staff wants. If our offense was top 5 since New Year's I'd be astonished. If we aren't top 3 in goals against I'd be even more shocked

4th in goals for since Jan 1, 6th in goals against soo pretty much exactly the same as it's been all year.

Good. I'm glad to know I'm worrying about nothing then. I just don't want to watch another "We can't buy a goal" playoff run. So thank you. Genuinely.

That was always been the fault of the stars on this team not the depth each time. If it's a 3-3 game and Kucherov has 3 points then sure blame the depth for not chipping in, a 1-1 0-0 game? Yeah big boys better be getting on that board, your depth is doing it's job by not getting scored on.

Not shitting on Stamkos' grave but he has all of like 3 good series ever and was invisible in our elimination games most always. What stands in my mind is how we lost 2 Cups the nights our stars went invisible. I try to give slack for the Colorado series due injuries but if you can't tell, I am still bitter and haven't gotten over it

A 3rd pair LD is a must and if I'm being greedy I would love another Winger for the middle six - I really don't trust Gage Goncalves in the playoffs, he plays way too soft for potential matchups against the Leafs/Cats.

Someone like Reilly Smith would make so much sense if you can get him for an affordable price (and is the exact kind of playoff gamer that this roster is filled with) -

You could run:

Guentzel - Point - Kucherov
Hagel - Cirelli - Smith
Gourde - Paul - Bjorkstrand
Girgensons - Glendenning - Chaffee

Rumor: Despite the Dallas Stars being included in every major trade rumor, they will let the trade deadline pass without doing any sort of big shakeup.

Dallas is linked to Rantanen, Brock Nelson, Elias Petterson, Rickard Rakell, Jamie Oleksiak, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Nick Robertson. None will come to pass.

Dumoulin and Seth Jones were linked to Dallas as well.
