HOLY SHIT. No, it was a teensy bit more than that...

As much as I love Bjorkstrand and think we could have potentially used Gourde... at that price, they can have him. :eek2:

Agreed, that’s an extremely high price for getting these two players, one of them is upcoming UFA and the other has one more year left

I know that everyone is emphasizing how much of a seller's market it is with returns like this, but how many more firsts are out there before some sellers are left without a trading partner?

Good on Seattle though.

Only chance I’d add someone with these prices is if it’s a last second deal on a guy that they desperately wanted to move and just tossed him away for nothing, like we did with max Domi a few years ago

I'm not sure what price you imagined - if Gourde was worth a late 1st as widely speculated - then Bjorkstrand for a late 1st (in 2026 or 2027) and a 2nd is what's left.

You think we would have been upset with trading our Minnesota pick and a 2nd in 2029 for Bjorkstrand? It's something like that value wise. I think people would have been happy with it here.

late 1sts can get fairly overrated. There is a time and place I love seeing the team acquire them (Savard and Foligno deals weren't bad) but to give them up when you are in a Cup window seems like a pretty obvious thing to do. Gourde seemingly fall off a bit has his risk but with where Tampa is you gotta take calculated risks, he's been a beast in pretty recent memory
