Official Tank Thread

The only bottom 6 players I have total confidence that will be on the team next year are Gallagher & Anderson. Wouldn’t be surprised if any of the young guns are included in a trade for a 2C or a RHD.

Imo, they're going to move Evans between Gallagher and Anderson. But yeah Dach, Newhook and any of the prospects not named Fowler, Reinbacher, and probably Hage are active trade bait. Newhook and Dach don't really have high value right now so I wouldnt be surprised if the team opted to trade high picks and prospects for those needed pieces coming back

But especially Anderson I think should be sold before his value craters again.

As for cap space, we need it — the Slaf and Guhle extension eat a lot of money.
His value likely isn't high anyways. He's fine as a 3rd liner and his contract is a nonissue with all the money we have. We need more physical forwards, not less.

You think we desperately need to clear up cap space to add to our 9.5 million to sign Struble, Dobes, and Heineman? You also think it will be impossible to trade away Price's contract which will be LTIRed and in its final year in case we need more?

I forgot about Evans in my assessment LMAO. My bad.

More importantly, if we stumble short of the playoffs Hughes might fall out of love with some of these bozos on the roster and thus follow through with the roster reconstruction surgery.

Talking about Savard, Dvorak, Armia, Pezzetta, Xhekaj, Struble but also Matheson, Anderson, Gallagher, Newhook, and Dach. Need them all churned and improved upon asap.
Yeah just some of the hardest working guys who have been instrumental in this drive. Calling someone like Gallagher a bozo when he has been massively clutch for us is just disgusting. Struble has improved immensely, so has Anderson and even Dvorak has found a groove. Savard would block a shot with his damn face if he had to.

When I read some posts on this forum it makes me happy that this fanbase got a guy like Bergevin running the show for so many years.

>fetishizes “hard working players” who can’t get more than 30pts a season despite PP time
>praises Savard who is beyond cooked
>praises Dvorak who was awful for almost all of four years

You sure you wanna call me the Bergevin fan?

I want a better roster than one that has to scratch and claw to finish maybe 8th. That means improving upon the myriad 20-30 point players who pout and take whole seasons off.

Try to read, I didn't say you were a fan I said you deserve MB. As in you deserve a terrible gm. You have no appreciation for the guys who got you to the dance, you're too busy dry humping the softest floaters on the team.

"I want a better roster blah blah blah", you don't deserve one. You call some of our hardest working players bozos. You deserve a team of floaters like the leafs.

Roster upgrades cost money -- better players cost more, cap is rising, wages will rise with it. I don’t think we have enough cap space to make serious upgrades. I definitely want more athletic players but Anderson is injury prone and inconsistent and overpaid relative to his production. He's one more "bad season" away next year from being a total anchor for his sixth and final season where we definitely need cap space.

We need to add to the 9.5m because we want to upgrade our 2C and top3 D, right? Right??

A terrible GM is one who has a fetish for the hardworking 30 point player. They didn't get the Habs anywhere, it was Suzuki and Hutson who carried the Habs and it's clearly the case: when they have a bad game, the team collapses. The hardworking players fall on their face.

Anderson took the whole last year off -- he doesn't get extra credit for for getting not-even 30pts this year, he gets a ticket out of town to the next sucker team that think he can contribute. Dvorak, Gallagher, etc have done their fair share of floating and bozo play over the last few years. We wouldn't have had such a bad team if we didn't have so many inconsistent passengers like Dvorak and Armia. It's not controversial to want new blood after a tank period. Falling in love with over-the-hill role players is very much a Bergevin move, so since you cited him you can own it.

edit: in fact, Anderson is NOT a 30 point player, he's hit a HIGH of 32 points twice in five years with the Habs and four times his nine full-time NHL seasons. With the Habs he has otherwise finished with 20, 24, and (this year) 27 points otherwise.

13th and 16th overall if we don't make it.. with a lot of meaningful games, information gathered, etc.

So as much as I want to make it tonight, there's worse things that could have come from this season.

I think you f'd up your formating

I re-opened it. We went 1-7-1 last time it was closed. We re-opened it & they went on a winning streak.

We closed it at end of season, but now they've gone 0-2. Let's see if this works again .... :neener:
Unfortunately superstition won't win games for the Habs. Only the off-season changes (hopefully) will.

I suspect it's too late to fix fate for this year playoffs.
But it's on time for next season. :sarcasm:
