Last year they worked hard almost every night. Even if they were down a goal or two it didn’t necessarily feel like the game is over. This year different story. Seems like there is less fight in them.

Losing 1/4 of the games by being stomped, yeah that isn’t good either.

So many problems with this roster.

The loser culture only took one off-season to become the norm. The team started with poor efforts, that was sorta fixed, but if they have a few goal against, they stop playing still.

This is a team that doesn't believe in itself.

People on this forum trashed Weber non-stop, but you never saw this country club atmosphere or awful efforts with him around. I'd suggest Chairot, Edmundson etc all were pretty decent leaders and vocal.

That being said I think Arbs, Guhle are good leaders and will be the future voices on this team.

I actually think the kids not being taken seriously is a problem right now. Back in October when nothing worked, Guhle said they should have a D meeting to the media after a game, took like 2 weeks before Matheson/Savard finally decided to do one. That meeting should have happened a few days after Guhle mentioned it.

Maybe you forgot the 18 and 19 seasons? Weber didn’t do shit to change that.

We’re not going anywhere without help on the right D and a second line center. It doesn’t matter if we have Weber or are coached by Mike Keenan. We’re rebuilding and this is the transition period.

Most of the top players drafted since KH took office are not in the NHL and the ones who are they are still too young to be the leaders of the team. It's basically the same team with Matheson instead of Petry and Slaf/Dach/Newhook added and a few vets replaced by kids who are 23 and under and drafted relatively low (Xhekaj, Struble, Heineman, Barron).

Matheson’s gotta go regardless. I get keeping him because we didn’t know if Hutson was ready but he is.

Matheson can’t defend in the left, he’s a disaster on the right. Time to let him go. We need to get a real RD.

Yeah I think so too. I really hope the young core can develop the winning spirit. We have seen it already with Cole and Suzi. I want to see it more with Slaf, but it has shown glimpses.

One things for sure. Suzi was an amazing leader in the OHL. Like amazing. He carried that team on his back with all those come from behind wins. That bodes well. Hopefully he can pass it on..

I think the effort has been there for a while now this season. Don't get fooled by primeau's inability to stop a beach ball. I did not watch the 3rd against the Pens I stopped watching in the 2nd and the team was playing fine by then it was even dominting at time. Dunno what happened in the 3rd but allowing that many goals in a single period is on the goalie as much as the team. Team gives up as soon as Primeau step in and honestly i can't blame them he's been atrocious.

My goal is simple: either you make playoffs, or you finish bottom 5. The biggest loser area, and any GM should be fired if they finish btw "#9-15". That is the kiss of death.. unacceptable.

Imo finishing in the 9-15 range is the most counter-productive placement in all of sports.

For a tanking team to become a contender, it probably needs to spend a season (or more) on the bubble in between.

The top 4 looks really really solid with Schaefer, Hagens, Martone and Misa.

Frondell and Desnoyers are both solid consolation prize, Frondell have top 3 talent in this draft and Desnoyers can be a hallejuah two-way guy in NHL level.

I'm Michael Misa train, but I would be very happy with one of 6.

I think Desnoyers might be underrated a bit, I follow the remparts and the guy is f***ing solid.

Again, Weber’s presence didn’t do shit for those guys when he was here. It was only when we finally added some vets on the blueline that things improved a little.

They didn't go full "Blackhawks" when they took over three years ago. Now they will have to try in the next three months (they already have some good pieces in place or close so it won't seem that bad). Status quo is pointless and they're not adding Stamkos-types, thankfully.

I'm surprise people are talking about losing culture already. Both Suzuki and Caufield have gone to the Stanley cup final. If we don't make the playoff in 2027, We can talk about a losing culture with the Habs.
