I love how wins over the pathetic Jackets and vastly overrated Oilers somehow mean we’re back in business lmao, some of you just won’t let this “in da mix” pipe dream die.

Guess what, we still suck ass and the Ls will start pilling up soon enough.
3-pts out of wildcard spot & 3rd in the division and Laine expected back in a couple of weeks, thus slotting more players in proper chairs…

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Certainty about either is a lot of hot air...

The results themselves are less important than how the team plays and competes. The past two games (& most of the Minny game), this young group has performed & competed very well. To deny or ignore that is just as silly as planning a playoff party after two wins.

But to be 3pts out of a playoff spot with Laine out and Slaf/Newhook/Dach combining for 6 goals through the first 1/4 of the season is pretty positive imo.

Future is bright 😎

The "in da mix" where the habs are still playing meaningful games later into the season isn't the pipe dream you think it is. No one is saying this is a playoff team, but they're not as bad as this thread would indicate either.

None of that matters, progress is the only thing that this team needs to concern itself with.

Let the chips fall where they may, as long as there's growth it's all good.

We are 3 games under ,500 and will likely remain under ,500 all throughout the season.

Laine will take time to readapt. He missed the last 82 games and hasn't played a meaningful game since December last year.

Crazy how people so easily jump the gun after two wins.

Every team goes through a bad stretch. We’ll see if we got ours out of the way early or if this is just a blip of better games.

Terrible way to start the year but we’ve been much better lately. Not great but better. Time will tell if this is a trend or a fluke.

Who's jumping the gun? They're playing better and more to what they're capable of. That's it.

Could you not say it was just as crazy to write the obituary on this team and it's coach so early after they stumbled out of the gate?

The season is long, the team is young, there's injuries and slumps etc... There's going to be peaks and valleys.

A rebuild is gonna rebuild.

Future was bright before the season started.
Future remained bright during the bad start.
Future is no brighter because we won 2 games.
Future will still be bright the next losing streak (& ensuing bombardment of "MSL can't coach", "everyone is regressing" & other nonsense takes).

Crazy how people can't see the forest for the trees.

Our dreams of getting star player in this draft is over. Habs played 3 solid games in a row. Oilers game was our best this season

Far too early to say, plus there's a lottery, also you never know what you'll end up with no matter where you pick.

Plenty of hall of famers have been found outside the top of a draft.

Doubt it, they probably draft 12th. Habs playing better defensively. Took them awhile but players finally getting messages. Vision of Schaefer and Desnoyers are slipping away.

Chicago - "we don't plan on being that bad this year," said by Chicago GM - is pretty solidly in last place now.

5 teams are tied with 16 pts. Montreal is 1 pt out of 21st spot (pick #12). 2 pts from 19th place (pick #14). Standings are too close to call.

What's funny is that they are 3 points from a POs spot ;p

Given Chicago tore everything down to the studs, it's wishful thinking to not ''plan on being that bad''. Either Davidson is disingenuous or is a bit stupid. The messaging should be clear : there is still a lot of pain coming.

This new Chicago rebuild will be an interesting case study of a rebuild where the cornerstone player is acquired at the beginning of the process. Toews/Kane, Crosby/Malkin, McDavid/Draisaitl, Ovechkin/Backstrom all came at the end of the process.

Let's see how long Bedard will tolerate the mediocrity...

Good thing there is a guy with that profile at the top of the 2025 draft.
That would be insane for Chicago , the best C prospect in his draft year , followed by the best D prospect in his draft , Followed by the best wing prospect in the draft back to back to back , surely the hockey gods don't let it happen
