They are cowards , I'm ready to go to war with the anti-tankers , I've been waiting for this for 20 years and they want to take away my rebuild , it sickens me.

These dudes miss Therrien DD and Patches , You can't even make it up

I'm all for trashing moves that hughes does that don't work don't get me wrong I'm not some blind defender , Dach Newhook and Barron aren't panning out but people act like these guys are the main plot and not the 5 year rebuild timeline the management team gave themselves

Barron, Matheson and Primeau will need to go if we aspire at going far in the playoffs one day. Right now, they’re not taking seriously the growth phase of a rebuild.

We are still 3 years away from serious contention if everything goes well.
Totally on board with that but very much doubt that Geoff Molson will stay the course that long (he’s been getting a lot of pressure from the low audience ratings from his broadcasters).

Nothing ever comes to fruition when Geoffy gets his dirty paws in the best of processes. Wouldn’t be surprised if he instructed his management to use that cap leverage next summer for quick fixes — and that would suck if it happened. 💀

I think the frustration is simply due to the set backs that have been accumulating these past two seasons.
We would certainly feel a lot more confident if Dach was able to get a full season under his belt as a 2C.
Now the Reinbacher situation has hit another dissonant chord this season.
I did expect him to play NHL hockey at some point this year.
It's impossible to watch all this transpiring and not understand we've lost a year of team development.
I haven't even talked about Laine because I have a hard time believing he was in our plans.
Seriously there a very few people who saw the possibility of a tank thread this season.
It sucks.

True but they still took assets and gave them plenty of ice time. It looks like a complete failure at this moment.

I know about that , it's like I said . Rebuild or not we somehow get worse and . We should be trending up slowly.

Jeff Molson has 3B reasons not to give a flying f***.

Yes , as you can imagine , being the tank commander I am , I was against the moves at the time since I wanted a full blown through the draft rebuild , then dach and newhook played acceptably enough where It wasn't a big deal and they showed a bit of upside ,

This season tho its for sure not looking good for them , I don't think the jury is necessarily out on them just yet

Good old days!

Yes, patience is crucial. So is progress.

Finishing at the bottom for the fourth straight season isn't something to celebrate. If that happens, it'll be a concerning sign that a percentage of our future core – players already on our team – may not be as good as we hoped. I'm not writing anyone off and there's lots of season left to play, but some growth is expected.

People are fooling themselves if they believe Demidov, Hage, and a 2025 pick will turn this team around. First and foremost, this team needs to turn itself around. Banking on prospects and future picks is a fun game, but our real future is taking shape – for better or worse – with our current roster. It's not too soon to see signs of what they'll become.

You're the one fooling yourself if you think what we had prerebuild-wise is enough to build on without waiting for actual draftees to come in and develop. The core will be Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, Slaf, Hutson, Demidov, Fowler, Dobes, Reinbacher, Hage, Beck, Mailloux, Heineman and whoever else we draft this year and if you notice among those names, only 2 are older than 23 and on the team. More than half our future core aren't on the team yet, and 3 of them who are on the team are only around 20 years old. You've been wanting them out of the bottom as soon as 2 years ago. You've been predicting them out of the bottom 5 since after the Slaf/Hutson draft. Maybe your expectations are whack.

The growth phase of a rebuild happens when your rebuild draftees join the team and develop further. So far there's only Slaf and Hutson and their development is doing fine.

You could look at the growth phase starting from the 2019 draft since the roster has CC/Guhle/Struble/Barron/Heineman/Dach/Newhook on it.

But in term of Rebuild management draft, it start with 2022.

So your suggestion is to not ever draft them again? Seems like a silly plan.
They have to make everything they can to bring them at the right time and gave them time to adapt. I think Engstrom has a pretty high % to come up and have sucess with Habs at NHL level. Not sure anymore about Kapanen.

Remember that the only ones (drafted) that succeeded with Habs were Naslund, Koivu…. and Lehkonen.

Good point , that said this season Gally and Andy seem to have woken up at least
Yes. Not the other vets though. I hate how so many people give a pass to Dvorak and Armia "because they are good ont he pk". People act like they are 3rd liner players paid 2 something millions a year. Together they are paid 7.850 millions. You can do lot of good things on the UFA market with that much money. Not that anyone would sign with us but what i mean is two vets paid this much should bring more than just "hey they are good on the pk". We could probably find cap dump playing better than them.

If they were not such vanilla players it would be fine but man both are super easy to play against. Guys like Weise and Emelin were limited but they were hard to play against. You could see other teams did not like them. Both were super easy to trade when made avalaible. I don't think any player ever had any trouble with stepping on the ice to play against Dvorak and Armia. You are sure to leave the ice uninjured with a scoring chance to go with it ... At least Anderson and Gallagher make it hard for the other team most of the night.
