Today, Entercom announced that the long-standing broadcast partnership between WEEI and the Boston Red Sox will continue through the 2023 Major League Baseball season. The announcement extends a play-by-play relationship with one of the most fervently loyal fan bases in pro sports. Red Sox broadcasts have been heard on WEEI since 1995.

Entercom CEO, David Field, praised the new deal as a win for both organizations and Red Sox fans everywhere. “WEEI and Entercom are delighted to be extending our outstanding relationship with the Boston Red Sox well into the future. It is a true privilege to be partnered with this extraordinary, iconic organization and their world-class team of professionals, both on and off the field,†Field commented. Field went on to say, “Red Sox fans across the country will continue to hear outstanding Sox play-by-play broadcasts and 24/7 team coverage on WEEI and WEEI.com, the home of Red Sox baseball.â€

“We are pleased to extend our partnership with WEEI for another seven seasons,†said Red Sox President, Sam Kennedy. “For more than a decade, the broadcast has been part of our most historic moments with the voice of Joe Castiglione echoing the triumph that we all felt during three championship seasons. We look forward to this new phase of our partnership and sharing more winning baseball through the airwaves with our fans across New England.â€

The WEEI Shaw’s Red Sox Radio Network is presently heard throughout New England on 55 AM and FM radio affiliates. Red Sox Hall of Fame announcer, Joe Castiglione, is celebrating his 33rd year in the booth and is the lead voice on broadcasts. He is joined this season by New England native and former Pittsburgh Pirates voice, Tim Neverett.

Was listening to D&C earlier and apparently Minihane and Dennis aren't getting along.

Used to listen from when they had Brady on Monday mornings. Minnihane is so unlikable I stopped. He belittles and berates callers, and treats his producers and people he works with like dirt. Throw in his misogynist comments and it's a no brainer.

I thought Kirk's treatment of their last producer made the show unlistenable. But I think overall he creates a dynamic that makes it far more compelling than it had been. His willingness to play devil's advocate and question/call D&C (Especially C) on their ancient world views I find entertaining.

He definitely does. I've said this for a while, but being a troll/playing devil's advocate bring in ratings, which leads to more $$$ for WEEI. It gets people to tune in and call him out on the air or on twitter. Hell, look at his columns on WEEI.com. Half the comments are people telling him to quit the contrarian act, stop being negative, etc. While it's not for everyone, it is better than "everything is awesome" radio with guys like Thornton and Zolak. Just look at D&C. Dennis is absolutely useless and you need to whack him over the head with a crowbar to get a luke-warm take out of him. Kirk is a breath of fresh air compared to Dennis.

Callahan, Minnihane, and Tanguay make the best shows, imo. Dennis is Florida bound pretty soon, feels like he's checked out already at times.

He does seem like that as well. Tanguay is so insane it would probably work - he's like a balloon clown that bounces back up when you punch it.

Tanguay was smart to change up approach. It's annoying but it's better than before

It's as if he was went in for an Annoyance Makeover- from his opinions to hair to glasses there is a lot to choose from

Hell baby
I was fine with Minihane's treatment of Curtis, mainly because Curtis is an idiot.

Dennis will be in Florida soon I would imagine. I'm not really a Callahan guy. If Tanguay joins I'm probably out

I agree. I'm gonna be a man without a channel soon.

I can't take it anymore. More whining than a roomful of 3-year-olds.

Heard a few minutes of Ordway and Merloni complaining the other day that Hanley Ramirez isn't peforming because he's not hitting home runs. "They didn't sign him for his glove!! Nobody cares that he's playing a decent first base!" Of course this after weeks of whining that HE DIDN'T EVEN BRING A FIRST BASEMAN'S MITT TO SPRING TRAINING, CALLER! THIS HAS DISASTER WRITTEN ALL OVER IT!! :shakehead

And I was channel-surfing the other day while waiting for my son to come home and saw about 15 seconds of Felger and Mazz stating that the Bruins should "follow the Penguins model" if they want to compete. :help:

That's it. I'm listening to podcasts from now on.

Serious question because I'm not in the Boston media area and don't really know the answer:

Is there anyone in the Boston media worth listening to/watching?

I think I would be eaten alive if I ever covered the Bruins in Boston

It's all become "sideshow radio" with lots of juvenile back and forth. It's become the new fad to be a total jackass.
