Updated this morning.

Difference between capfriendly.com is I am including Weal and Shore against the CAP at this point in time. Whether they make the team remains to be seen, but I am being conservative here in the CAP estimations.

Telos, we don't know the actual buyout figures for Richards. So the difference between cap ceiling and salary can't be $3 MM. It's probably closer to $1 MM (estimates provided by McKenzie, among others).

Just sticking with cap friendly until the number is known as a placeholder since we know there is guaranteed to be something there for the value of x.

Does LA still hold rights to
Pelech Drafted 09' out of the OHL
Azevedo 08' OHL
and Kubalik 13' OHL

I didn't think that any of them were tendered contracts?

Probably not, will have to check. I used to use the official website, but it is clear they don't give a **** anymore as Berube, Miller, and Holloway are still on the site. http://kings.nhl.com/club/roster.htm?type=prospect

Edit - I think you're right so I took them off. Not like they'll ever wear a Kings sweater anyway.

Dominik Kubalik is still Kings property. Since he left junior before 20 for Europe his rights went from 2 years protected to 4 years protected.

Azevedo was over 27 as of July 1st so his rights expired. As a RFA your rights are held until 27.

Pelech never signed with Kings as far as I know so his rights had expired quite a while ago (after two years).

So you should add Kubalik back in as an unsigned prospect.

Very well.

Here, this will help. I've added expiry dates to this table for you.

N/A = Due to lack of transfer agreement the rights to players playing in the Russian Hockey Federation are held indefinately.
* = Due to the fact LaDue played a year of junior hockey after being drafted before heading to NCAA he may declare himself to be a pro on June 1, 2016 and become a UFA on July 1, 2016. If he returns to NCAA for senior year he remains Kings property until August 15, 2017.

Thanks.

So, the Kings are $1,881,894 over the CAP.

However, Matt Greene is on LTIR, so the Kings can use the difference between his salary and what they are over the CAP in order to add maybe another player. That difference is $618,106.

$618,106. That's all they have left to play with (unless of course, Clifford also goes to LTIR, but that remains to be seen).

Anticipating the reports are true and guessing he has a limited NMC. Chart updated. (If it's too small for you to read, just click on your Mac's option button and hold the + key to increase size to readability. I'm sure there is a similar option on a Windows machine but I don't know it.)

Looks a little antsy for next year's CAP, but also keep in mind Vinny's salary is actually coming off of that official chart if he retires as he promised to do.

That gives us some wiggle room...

Will analyze here in 20 minutes or so.

Assuming Vinny retires, Lewis walks cause he wants $3M, Greene retires due to injury, McNabb only gets a small raise, McBain comes back for the same or similar salary and we get someone like Forbort or Gravel playing full time next year...

Maybe we have enough to re-sign Lucic if the cap increases by about $2M

It could happen!!

We wouldn't need all that to happen just to sign Lucic. I thought you were making a play for McDavid with all those subtractions!

So, of the signed pro prospects not on the Kings roster whose contracts expire at the end of the season, who gets a contract renewal?

I say yes to Forbort, Dowd, and Budaj if Bartosak is guilty is his criminal matter. If the Bartosak matter is resolved (not guilty) by July 1 (not likely), then maybe the Kings take a chance on him due to lack of goalies in the system.

I say maybe to Crescenzi.

I say no to Sabourin, Kitsyn, Schultz and Roach.

What about the kids in Juniors? These players need a contract by June 1st 2016.

Amadio
Marchment
Mistele
Watson
Middleton
Dillon

Who would you sign?

Who would you sign?

Amadio - Definitely. He's quickly rising as one of the best prospects in the organization. He would be top priority.

Marchment - Yes. While he made himself look like an *** on social media, he owned up to it, apologized for it, and has seemingly applied himself better. He has NHL bloodlines in him, he's tough, and he's a center who lives in front of the net.

Mistele - Of the six you listed, he would be the second last on my priority list. He has been too hot and cold.

Watson - Yes. He would be second most important after Amadio. Long term, I think he would struggle to have an NHL future, due to his size, but he's very highly skilled, a leader, and would do great in the AHL.

Middleton - Yes. He's a big, stay-at-home defenseman. Even though the game is trending towards puck possession, he's not the type of player who should be phased out.

Dillon - No. I know the Kings don't have any goaltending prospects with the trouble Bartosak's in, but he really struggled this season in the WHL before getting injured, and while development camp isn't a good place to evaluate players, I still think the invitees (especially Jack McBride) looked better. The Kings just need to trade some picks or prospects, or sign some free agents, and restock their goaltending cupboard.
