It's possible, especially if he plays the way he did in the playoffs. He had a bigger role in running the pp and he just seemed more confident. I just think he's finally figured it out and he'll be given more responsibilities and will have a very good year in 2010.

Why, what do you think will be a fair compensation for him if he continues to prosper next year?

No more than 3.5m over 3-4 years

I think Johnson can easily get 4 - 6 million on the OPEN market, problem is, he is a RFA, so he and the team really have two choices,

If both think it's a match, they can opt for a long term 7-8-9 year deal worth anywhere from 4-6 million, say a cap hit of 5 million etc, per year.

Or if Johnson doesn't think he wants to spend his whole career in LA, he signs a contract taking him up to the age of UFA,

Same with LA, if they are unsure, they sign him to the age of UFA for a cheaper deal.

I would be o.k. with either one of those lineups. Hopefully Dean gets it done.

Those who want a 4th line center, look no further than Trevor Lewis or Brayden Schenn.. Next year's 4th line

Richardson-Schenn-Lewis

Westgarth and Clune in the pressbox

Yeah, I like Schenn there as well. Unfortunately his cap was a bit high and I opted for Lewis but I'm still pulling for Schenn.

Exactly. Schenn is second (or third if we trade Stoll and bump up Zeus) line or bust in my opinion with his cap hit... Lewis needs to step up and I am looking to him to take that fourth line job. When he was drafted, he was slated to become one of the top third liners in the game, I look for him to reach that goal.

Zeus, imo can be a 30 perhaps even 40 goals scorer if put in the right situation. However, because he's so good as our checking center, that's where I see him regardless of Stoll trade.

What is Schenn supposed to turn into, a 2nd line C, or a 3rd line grinder? Just asking because depending on what he is pegged as etc, really determines how and where he should be used.

If the organization's goal is for him to be a long term 2nd pivot, you do not want him playing 6-8 min a game on the 4th line, you want him playing 20-25 min in juniors, or 16-20 min a game in the AHL.

If they peg him as a 3rd line talent, then possibly you can get away with pegging him at 6-8 min a game, but that is one helluva cap hit for a 4th line player

He is pegged as a second line center, but if we got rid of Stoll it would be between him and Handzus for the job and Schenn has the type of game that could be used in a third line role and might be a good start for him to work his way up from. Given Murray, I could easily see that happening.

If they get rid of Stoll, it's because they have a better option at C, than Stoll, Handzus and Schenn to be honest.

As much as I don't think Stoll is a 2nd line C, he is their best option within the organization now.

FA might and probably will change that.

After missing out on Hamhuis and Martin,

Anyone think bringing Kubina in on a 3 year deal for 3.5 cap hit, good idea for a solid D presence? He can grab solid PP time, and can move the puck, he's not as solid defensively as he should be, but you pair him up with Greene and that's not a bad combo there,

I'm not against Kubina depending on the terms. I'd probably shoot for a 2 year deal at most though. He'd theoretically need to play in the Top 4 though. Doughty - Kubina, JJ - Scuderi. He's really the only UFA d-man left out there that can play in our Top 4 and not necessarily be out of place.

A guy like Andy Sutton or Mark Eaton would be a better, cheaper fit for our third pairing with Greene.

I would be interested in Kubina at a price lower than the $4 million a season everyone else is getting and the term is also less than 5 years.
