God I wish they would.
I seriously doubt he would. Beckerman fired and is still in charge. I wouldn't trust him again if I were DL
Also I recently watched one of the greatest movies ever made, The Replacements and Coach Jimmy McGinty(Gene Hackman) was rehired by the owner during the strike and promised full autonomy only to have the owner go back on his promise.
Kind of like the Kings did with DL the first time around.

Game 6 tonight.
I am not watching again.
However, I know the script, the Kings will win tonight and force me to watch Game 7 as I somehow regain a glimmer of hope that we have a chance of moving on to round 2.

When you have metrics like this, and a previously very loyal fanbase largely in a malaise you should be focusing your fan engagement efforts on retaining those fans, not trying to attract the casual fan looking for a night out 3 or 4 weekend nights a season.
But again, just another decision by the Kings under Robitaille's leadership that makes absolutely no sense.

This current regime could only exist in LA.. nowhere else would you have an endless supply of seat fillers to obscure the decline of the product to the extent that it has... the cup wins are still selling tickets apparently.

Only on the hockey team in LA. No chance would eight years of no playoff success and the bizarre media situation fly with the Lakers or Dodgers fanbases.
Could you imagine Rob Pelinka, anyone from his basketball ops team or the coaching staff exclusively going on a team friendly "Kings of the Hardwood" podcast to answer softball questions from an organizational mouthpiece like Hoven, and be allowed to make numerous blatantly factually incorrect comments to cover up for his failures? Their massive fanbase and the rest of the media in town would rip them to shreds.
Robitaille and his band of buddies have it about as easy as any front-office in the country.

The Kings right now are rotating what by NHL playoff standards are two 2nd lines and a 3rd line up front, and four 2nd pairing defenders on the back-end. That doesn't exactly strike fear into any opponent when it comes to strategically matching up lines.
The Oilers feel comfortable with whoever is out there, while the Kings can't play 28% of their roster except in the perfect circumstances (which will be harder to find on the road). That is why the individual games have tilted in the third period, and the series as a whole has tilted the further along it's gone, unfortunately fatigue is a real thing, especially to older players.
Now part of that is because the Oilers have two of the best players in the league, but we have known that for years, Blake knew with the divisional playoff that most seasons the path was going to go through McDavid and Draisaitl, yet he still went forward to "contender status" when he didn't really have a true game-breaking star up front or a true dominant defenseman on the backend (and now DD has fallen way back from where he was ion 2021). There is a reason why there has only been one team in the last two-decades that was constructed like the Kings are that won a Stanley Cup.
None of this should be surprising to anyone, and I know it's not you you, as you were one of the ppl who picked Edmonton in six in this series. It's pretty telling that Edmonton was favored in this series by the people (and their programs) paid a lot of money to analyze these things, this despite being a lower seed, starting out on the road against the best home team in the NHL and not having their best defenseman in Ekholm.. That is why some of the talk about a sweep or a short series for the Kings really didn't make sense, barring some kind of God-mode goaltending performance. If the Kings had a "much better roster" as some have argued, and then you couple it with their home-ice dominance there is zero chance they would have been betting underdogs, ZERO ZERO ZERO.
The Kings have dominated one game, the Oilers have dominated one game and the other three have been toss-ups. The fact that the Kings won the first toss-up kind of gave people a false sense that this would be a short series. If Edmonton had won Game 1 and the Kings won one of the toss-ups in Edmonton there would be no belief that the Kings let them off the hook or choked, like some people think. The games don't end after 40 minutes, and the Kings were always going to be at a huge disadvantage in every third period.
Unfortunately for the Kings, with the icetime distribution and the likelihood of fatigue playing an even bigger factor in tonights game, the Kings really needed to come out on top in 2/3 of the toss-ups instead of 1/3 of the toss-ups.

The Oilers have lots of shitty gaffe-prone players, but Knoblauch played them anyways. And now we're in game 6 and they're fresh while our team looks cooked.
Jeannot and Turcotte seem like inconsequential players, but that 4th line was rolling prior to the injuries. That's one of the reasons LA was having so much success post-TDL: they had 4 quality lines.
On top of that, Hiller doesn't trust Spence and Clarke, so now you've only got 3 froward lines and 2 D pairs.
It's not just the shortening of the bench though, it's also the play style. Getting hemmed in your own zone shift after shift is incredibly fatiguing.

They went into the shell because they were to gassed to press forward with a consistent attack, because they are playing players who are in their 30's (some well into their 30's) more minutes than they have ever played in their careers and doing it 87 games into the season, while chasing around two of the best players in the history of the league. They are doing this because they don't think 28% of their roster can play a regular shift in the NHL playoffs.
If it were more a strategic decision than a result of fatigue, the Kings wouldn't have looked just as dead in OT of Game 4 and the 3rd period of Game 5 when in both cases they needed a goal to win the game. There is no way Hiller was telling them to sit back in either of those situations.

That is not true. They looked gassed in overtime game 4 and all of game 5.
But the collapses in the third period in game 3 and final 30 regulation minutes of game 4 were due to poor decision making not being tired.

I think going into a "shell" contributes to the fatigue.
Not all TOI is the same.
Those shifts hemmed into your own zone are killers. I bet LA leads the playoffs in icings.
