Upgraded to 7.0 (I've also seen 7.3). Tsunami watch.

Our 5.3 last night, was a nice little jolt., windows rattled, heard it rumble and then a good jolt for maybe ten seconds.

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred 10 km east of Eketahuna, New Zealand on Tue Jan 28 2025 11:26 PM. The quake was 35 kilometres deep and the shaking was strong close to the quake.

The quake may have been felt in Blenheim, Castlepoint, Dannevirke, Eketahuna, Feilding, French Pass, Hastings, Hawera, Hunterville, Levin, Martinborough, Masterton, Mokau, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Ohakune, Opunake, Palmerston North, Paraparaumu, Picton, Pongaroa, Porangahau, Seddon...
