Official 2026 Utah Mammoth Off-Season Thread

  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Peterka is underrated by people who don't understand advanced stats, no reason to move him from a Utah prospective. He was brought in to score 5v5 and that's what he has done. Out scoring Doan in 5v5 numbers, 3rd overall in even strength points for the team last season. #1 in ratio of 5v5 points per average TOI on the team. The main reason he didn't score more points overall than Doan or than in Buffalo last season is because he wasn't given time on PP1, which on a good team makes sense. This idea that he had an off year and is up for trade for picks or prospects is asinine.

Sens fan here.
Would 25th overall and L.Hensler be a good foundation to acquire Peterka?

Sens can probably add more, but I'm not sure what the realistic ask is. He seemed to have a mediocre year so I'm thinking he may be expendable, but don't value him poorly because I think he's a great fit on Ottawa.

My thinking is Hensler and 25th could be added in to other assets you guys already have, so you can land a bigger fish like Larkin (for example).
Why would Utah trade Peterka exactly?

I mean, I suggested they go after a bigger fish like Larkin (Or someone else). It seems that part is being overlooked. I never suggested he was bad either.

If he's not available then that's fine. I was simply inquiring as he seems like a great fit for my team, and we have a few relatively valuable assets that may have been of interest.

FWIW I would maybe consider a deal involving Pinto but some Sens fans would be against that entirely.

Meh. If it only costs a 5th rounder but 8 years and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ seems not worth the risk.
To get a top 2 RW without given up anything substantial? I disagree.

I ask myself what would the Leafs want for Knies and come up with a sideways trade involving Crouse. Getting Tuch would make it easier to part with Crouse. And with Domi gone for the season, Toronto may be asking about Hayton.

Personally I only see Pinto as a minor upgrade over Hayton, so likely redundant as a 3C for Utah. There are several other center prospects... Desnoyers, Iginla, or Beaudoin who could play the same or greater role. In reality, my post wasn't responding to yours directly. Mostly a shot over the bow aimed at some of the misguided posts I've seen on here from our own fanbase regarding Peterka.

I don't know if Peterka is available or not, but he was just traded here a year ago, almost to the day. I can't see management already getting rid of him. He is only 24 years old.

In a year or two, if he doesn't seem to find his fit on this team, then I could see him being shipped out.
