Ehlers is the much better player without the puck on D.Peterka seems somewhat similar to Ehlers (Carolina). Blazing speed, great shot, difficult to play with.
With a puck support C that can read the offense and make good passes he could excel on the third line. McBain is not that guy. Beaudoin could be. Ehlers did well with Lowry in Winnipeg and did well with Staal in Carolina.
You get a change to win almost every year. How does Florida and Vegas, as recent examples, convince their guys to almost always take less money? As easy example Tuch makes more now than any Panther.
You could have given a team friendly contract in Edmonton and have just as good of a chance last few years yet it doesn't happen. Yeah weatherYou get a change to win almost every year.
How much is lifestyle and lower/no income taxes worth? I mean, as we constantly got beaten up by Canadians and other northerners on here when in AZ, we always had that arrow in our sling "yeah, have fun freezing and paying all those taxes"How does Florida and Vegas, as recent examples, convince their guys to almost always take less money? The tax difference for many players is nothing to get excited about. Don't believe me follow Allan Walsh who talks about it lots. A good tax plan will negate most of the difference. How much is lifestyle and lower/no income taxes worth? I mean, that worth isn't $0, if it's maybe intangible. $8m/yr in Ottawa or Winnipeg is not the same as $8m/yr in Miami or Vegas.
No state income tax means they keep at least 10% more of what they earn. How does Florida and Vegas, as recent examples, convince their guys to almost always take less money? As easy example Tuch makes more now than any Panther.
"most of"... but not "all of"... and again, lifestyle. *You* might not think living in Florida or Vegas in winter would be great, but you're also not a 30-ish NHL player. The tax difference for many players is nothing to get excited about. I think living in either would be great, I spend my winters in Arizona. But why not Nashville, Tampa, Carolina, Dallas, etc. It seems like only those 2 regularly get players to take a lot less than market value."most of"... but not "all of"... and again, lifestyle. *You* might not think living in Florida or Vegas in winter would be great, but you're also not a 30-ish NHL player.
And as you yourself say...it keeps happening. Are Vegas and (against all odds, after so many decades) Florida that much better people to work with? That could be the reason, too.
Especially Vegas who have shown that they would ditch them in a second flat when they have used them up.I think living in either would be great, I spend my winters in Arizona.
