Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

You don’t watch N.A. players guess.
Not as much. But name anyone else besides Konecny who has been a good selection from NA from the Flyers department. Not meaning there aren't good players of course. But I do believe it could be more difficult to pick a steal in the later rounds from NA.
I've watched Hagens and Misa. Misa won't fall. I would still pick these two before Schaefer and if Hagens falls? Say at fifth, I think Flyers should do a move to get the opportunity to select him. He's a sure bet good top6 with the potential of being and becoming better than Konecny in the end.
I'm not as sure on Mrtka and his ceiling even if his size is impressive and so on. Victor Eklund strikes me as a future good top6 winger as well. He lives less on early developed physicality like Frondell and others. He has instincts and skill that impresses me and which makes me believe he's a sure NHLer for the future.
If Westergård falls to mid rounds I would certainly pick him. Has potential to become a good or even great middle6- top9 guy. Peterka light is his ceiling for me. Competes, has a scoring mindset but does his job defensively and they boy can skate.
I think the players I'm listing are potential steals and realistic ones as well.

Why do you say that? He just committed to staying in Oshawa for another year before going to college.
I watched a few of London's playoff games vs. Oshawa and he can really skate for a big man. Mobile and fast, forward and backward, decent hockey sense for a relative newby. He was pretty good at joining the rush and carried the puck up ice with confidence, even against a great team like London. We'll see who takes him and where, but if you need a 6'6" Dman who can skate, he could be a project worth investing in.
making sure we pick him up in the 5th+ 😁🙏

Did a full 7 rounds at FC, the results:

6. MARTONE, PORTER
RW, BRAMPTON STEELHEADS, OHL

22. BEAR, CARTER

I dont get the Funck pick.
Bear wont be there at 22.

I usually just do three rounds, and no matter who you pick, you end up with a pretty darn good group of prospects. This draft will make or break the Flyers' future. No pressure, just don't screw it up!
Looking back at 6-22-32-36-40-45-48 combo from drafts 2010-2020 gave me a heart attack. It is really ugly.

With 7 early picks i was hoping for 3-4 good players but it only happened once. In 2019. Seider, Bjornfoot, Pinto, Kotchekov, Hoglander.

2010 3 bottom players
2011 Zibanejad and Granlund
2012 Lindholm and Maata
2013 Monahan and busts
2014 2 bottom players
2015 2 bottom players
2016 Matt Tkachuk and Hart
2017 all busts
2018 K’Andre Miller
2019 good
2020 Drysdale, Lapierre, Faber.

Now hoping for a couple of trades…

I know there’s only so much you can read into in an interview, especially a hockey interview, but McQueen comes off as a likable kid and shows more personality than the standard hockey player interview

Wouldnt call them homerun picks like Konecny, but Foerster, Brink, and Cates have all exceeded expectations relative to draft position.

I get you but Brink is no Aho or HIntz either, both second round picks. I mean Brink is no Dorofeyev either... From the same draft.

Omg you stumbled upon the realities of drafting? Did you look at top 3 picks for all those years too? I bet you would of found a lot better players who were drafted.

Real talk, I would offer them Konecny for 4 (and some other pieces, hopefully). They add Konecny and Marner to that team, they'll be in the playoffs next year, and we could add two of Hagens, Martone, Frondell, and Desnoyers to our prospect pool, while taking our top offensive performer off the roster for next year, which would set us up brilliantly for the McKenna draft.
100%. I would trade him for Buffalos pick let alone Utah

If we got 4 OA from Utah for Konecny, we could go Lardass Porterhouse at 4, then come back at 6 and take Hagens/whomever, or trade back for Montreal's two picks and nab Bear there (hopefully). I keep trying to figure out how we can grab Potter with a pick where he's at an appropriate value - maybe Hagens is sitting there at 6 and someone gives us a good deal to move up two or three spots, then we get Potter at like 8 or 9 OA. I don't know, just braining it for shits.

no reason not to trade konecny lmfao. couts too. we're not contending with them in the lineup, it's simply a matter of aging. Give them opportunities to win elsewhere.

The only way I can see keeping TK is there to attract UFAs next year. He offers more win now vibes than anyone else on the team. And I do think that is the plan. The current prospects plus the ones coming this summer then add the top line talent next year.

Getting Martone and Hagens and Rossi would be a pretty amazing summer.

I think I would be more than okay if Flyers drafted McQueen if it’s believed that the spondylolysis is the reason for his injury issues the past couple seasons, it has affected his development, and is the rear view mirror now. The Flyers shouldn’t be afraid of a big swing as they need top talent more than safe supporting players

I’m not sure McQueen even makes it to the Flyers now but that would also be great as someone would fall

He's going to go in the 2nd round, if not the late 1st. He's staying in Oshawa for one more year, deferred his BU admission. He looked pretty good with the Gens vs. London in the playoffs. A project for sure, but maybe a home run. I love that his mom owns 5 rinks, and bought the Brantford team so he would have a spot.

So he’s the Chinese Zach Hyman?
