Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

I really hope Dallas can win. Are they getting their studs back for game 7? Annoying that we have the Avs pick who are playing a team having easily the biggest injuries this playoffs vs MTL who has NJs pick that is missing their star player.

Any concern with Frondells medicore u18s?

He played very well in a good pro league for 45 games this season.

4 games vs a far lower level of competition would not play into my thinking.

Especially as he flew cross Atlantic the morning after winning the Allsvenskan (probably slept on the plane, well, had to given departure time and arrival) had practice a few hours after landed and then played hours after that.

I do think he came into the tournament a bit worn down too, he seemed to be slowing down in Allsvenskan play-offs, which is understandable given he missed 8 months of hockey including his entire summer last year.

He will never be a super dynamic guy. Just not his game either. But I do think there is a chance for him to be a passable 1C if he keeps developing.

Kind of what we've been hearing.

Scheafer, Misa, Frondell, Hagens, Martone, Desnoyers and O'Brien form a clear top 7.

Hagens fell from 2 to 5, again something we've been hearing that others have surpassed him!

“That single scout went with Misa ahead of Schaefer largely on the basis of positional preference.”

Sounds like one of the 10 scouts was from the Flyers.

These next ~68 hours are going to crawl by. Soon we’ll have a much idea of the players that will be on the board when the Flyers pick and who they’re likely to pick.

Assuming we stay at 4 - it’s Hagens for me. I think his floor is Jett’s ceiling. I think his ceiling is legit 1C. I think scouts thought he would have had a Celebrini impact his freshman year. The fact he didn’t gives us the only shot we have of getting him. If he’s there, please don’t f*** this up.

Yea pretty easy choice for me too if he’s there at 4. If he’s not or we move to 5, hoping for Frondell. Otherwise it’s one of the top 2 picks. Should be a good to pretty good outcome.

I’m more worried about those later 1sts and early 2nds. Hitting on a few of those is very important. There may be a top pair dman and a top 6 center in there.

Any chance you think Luchanko could be tired as well coming to the AHL give his poor regular season numbers? Or is his production pretty in line with his career thus far? It seems like he is a 3C. That’s the least need on the team since Couts may be locked in there for awhile.

Absolutely this. Hagens is #3 on my board behind Misa and Schaefer (and they're 1a and 1b, and flip back and forth). If we don't move up, and he's there, let's not overthink this.
