Briere/Flahr saying it’s a 7 player top tier the other day are either lying to you, lying to themselves (because they could’ve picked from 4-7), or really really are bad at drafting. You can’t count out any of those. It’s most likely multiple.

If the Flyers move to 5 in the lottery, it will be awful. But not as awful as passing up one of the top guys at 4. They won’t pass on Hagens, I’m very sure. Martone? I don’t know. That’s where being a right wing worries me for a bunch of fit pick mouthbreathers. I like Frondell, but he’s behind them and also a wing. And Desnoyers at 4 has Hayton over Hughes vibes. The Dunning-Kruger team could easily have a surprise in store. They still dream about the Luchanko pick.

I just hope Flyers aren’t fixated on someone like Desnoyers. It wouldn’t be a Luchanko over Buium disaster but it would hurt. Gotta be one of Martone, Hagens, or Frondell. Position is of little importance right now. The Flyers are probably ~5 years away from a hypothetical competitive team. If you have a 1-2 punch of Michkov and Martone on the first 2 lines then that’s good.

I would draft center heavy with the other 1sts and 2nds and hope a guy or 2 breaks out

Yeah, I think of guys like him, Krejci, or to a lesser extent, Bennett, who aren’t sexy or stat sheet monsters, but have a big part in their teams’ success and who have had some big playoff runs

Frondell, most elite pure shooter,power shot,lightning quick release,good skill set,hockey sense,pace,menace on the forecheck. He has an NHL body now.
As far as tiers go, he is a tier higher than Desnoyer.

I agree about BPA, but we all know they’re taking a C. I wouldn’t hate Martone at 4 if Hagens is gone but I’d be shocked if they drafted a RW. I’d still prefer Frondell but it’s close.

As long as we get one of the big 5 (I’m including Frondell because I’m very high on him) I’ll be happy. I’m officially out on Desnoyers now too. He would be a comfy pick at 6 but I don’t like him at 4.

Let’s say the draft stays the same as it is now. What does Nashville do?

With Trotz running the show in Nashville, you really never know. Center is a big need there so I would think they go Hagens or Frondell.

I don’t think it would be the most shocking thing in the world if they went with Martone or, to a lesser extent, Desnoyers. It’s hard to get a read on Trotz, Nashville, and what they are doing or trying to do. They are a wildcard at 3

Anyone know any insiders that are well connected with Nashville? They are a team to pay attention to pre-draft
