I was just thinking about the Eagles comparisons from a few days ago, and the Flyers front office purportedly studying Howie. Eye-roll worthy, but in light of the Flyers never ever believing in tanking, and wanting to win these April games, the Eagles engineered an absolute tank job against the Commanders a few years ago to move from 9th to 6th (sounds familiar). They didn’t give two shits about pride. They didn’t even pick at 6, but you could draw a pretty straight line from that one late season tank (in assets + follow-up decisions) to building their SB team.

Flyers studying that one? No? So much for that 7-25 tier.

What you took away from that Giants Week 17 Game was how they compounded the value gain.

What the Flyers took away is how important it was to have Super Bowl Champion Nate Sudfeld.

Speaking of drafts, a past draft. Cutter Gauthier has heated up lately. Now sits at 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points. On a bad team. Kid is going to be a serious player

It was always going to be a bad trade for us. As much as we hate him he's a legit first line caliber player which we desperately need.

Think he has the potential to be a prime Kris Kreider type.

Almost all the worst possible outcomes played out this week in regards to the tank. What seemed like a surefire top 6 pick pre lottery is looking dicey. We need to lose 1 game in regulation to secure the 6th best odds pre lottery.

Knowing how things have gone, I'm sure they'll go 2-0 and all of Seattle, BUF, PITS, ANA will lose out. Being a fan of this team literally hurts.

I'm genuinely terrified everything will go wrong for us again this week:
1. Montreal beats Chicago tomorrow to clinch which eliminates CBJ.
2. CBJ will have nothing to play for Tuesday and we beat them at home.
3. NJ has been awful the past week, and just got spanked by BOS last week, they'll go super try hard and beat Boston.
4. LA still fighting for home ice with EDM, will beat Seattle.
5. Washington has been on sleep mode ever since Ovie broke the record. Will try and rectify before the playoffs start. Win vs PITs.
6. Anaheim has been their usual awful self the last 10 days. Minny still fighting to clinch and then they're on a B2B on the road in Winnipeg. They'll go 0-2.
7. Buffalo running out of steam after a hot stretch. Toronto still fighting to win the division, they'll beat Buffalo Tuesday. Then the most important game of all of us. BUF vs PHI on Thursday. It'll be a Gauranteed Flyers win just to break us all.

This all leads to the 9th pick and picking a future middle 6 player.

Obviously that's worst case scenario and im just going overboard, it's just hard guys. What an absolute painful ending to the season. Typical.

Let's just get this year done with. Can't handle this team for anything more than the next few days.

Don't worry, Deslauriers and Hathaway is what we have and will us lead through the war. There is absolutey NOTHING to be worried about.

The numbers do say that Desnoyers and O'Brien have a "chance" to be a 1C... maybe a 20% chance each...

But yeh, the guys in the top 6 have far more likely high end outcomes.

Yeah, this disappoints me as I was a huge Gauthier fan until he burned the bridge. He is what I expected. It is a shame he had to be traded away. I was never a big Drysdale fan, but am now hoping he continues to get better and becomes a somewhat valuable player. He is a long way from that still though.

Gauthier didn't burn the bridge. The Flyers did. It was a massive screw up. Refusing to burn the first year of his ELC. Now here they are burning Dorwart's first year. Again, showing just how incredibly incompetent they are.

I feel exactly the same. This is 50+ years of torture watching morons fail and fail again. Why are goofs like Deslauriers and Hathaway even getting ice time in nothing games? GTFOOH. Briere and Jones need to be fired, or else the owners should just Sell The Damn Team.

Issue with tanking for McKenna, is that if they don't aggressively try to improve this summer, the precious CULTURE(tm) might be lost.

If I'm reading this right, Boston only needs to go to overtime, if the Flyers lose both in regulation.

Points right now are BOS - 75, PHI/SEA - 76. Boston picking up 1 point, and neither Philly nor Seattle doing so, leaves us all tied at 76. RW is the first tiebreaker after the season ends, and that's SEA - 28, BOS - 26, PHI - 21. If we all end up on the same point total, we get 4, Boston 5, Seattle 6.

If we pick up a loser point, we need Boston to win (in any way) and Seattle to also go to overtime in their last game.

If we pick up two points, game over, man, game over.
