Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Awful day for the tank. Buffalo, Anaheim lost but more important Boston and Seattle lost too.. almost a guarantee we finish ahead of Boston now and Seattle as well.

Bascially comes down to us picked 6-9. Need PITS to clutch up... need Anaheim and BUF to just steer clear a bit.

Also a Gauranteed win for us Saturday. NYI have nothing to play for and Sorokin out lol

8th and 9th are super, super unlikely. Even 7th is very unlikely. Here are the outcomes over last 4 games and what the most likely pick will be based on them:

0-4-0: 4th
0-3-1: 4th
1-3-0: 4th
1-2-1: 5th
2-2-0: 6th
2-1-1: 6th
3-1-0: 6th
3-0-1: 7th
4-0-0: 8th

Anaheim can lose out and Flyers have to go 3-1-0 to pass them...

My fear is:
Isles are a mess, win
Ottawa has clinched, possible win
Columbus will have been eliminated, win
Buffalo, final home game for Sabres, loss

So, I sadly think there is a good chance they go 3-1 or 2-1-1 with 2-2 being our best hope. 6th is probably the best bet and just have to hope the lottery doesn’t knock them back to 7th.

We literally were desperate for CBs and went CB CB in the first two rounds. Then edge, by your own admission the need of the team. It’s what NFL teams do for logical reasons. It’s a lot closer to filling a need like a UFA in football than hockey.

The bears ain’t picking a QB any time soon. NFL teams 100% draft for need.

The discussion was whether the Eagles draft for need. Yes, there are NFL teams that do. They're run poorly.

Literally last year when you're convinced they drafted for need:

“We don’t change our evaluations based on need, and I think with the way the board fell, with the offensive players going, with the quarterbacks going, it fell nicely for us,” Roseman said. “We felt like we were going to sit and get a pretty good player.”

Roseman said cornerback was a position the Eagles were glad to improve, but they wouldn’t have done it if the right players weren’t there at the right time.

“It kind of met needs and evaluations,” Roseman said.

You're arguing with the man himself. This is just weird.

Bruins will get their hands on a great prospect in this years draft only to be competititve again next season. I won't be surprised if they go hard after Marner too.

Their window is about to close since they made some questionable picks in recent drafts but they are still a well let franchise.
Sounds about right!

ASF says flyers view tiers, No.1, 2-6 and then 7-25 with desnoyers 7 for what it is worth
Desnoyers at 7 is interesting. It should mean that Martone and/or Eklund are in that 2-6 tier at least. Desnoyers feels like a Boston or Flyers’ pick though

If #1 is Misa I can see the reasoning for 1 and then 2-6. And that hopefully indicates Eklund is in their 2-6 tier.

But thinking 7-25 is a "tier" is a bit wild. Can see 7-15 then 16-25? But a tier that big just cannot be right.

Desnoyers, O'Brien, Smith... vs say Fiddler, Aitchesen, Zonnon...

BUT if they do end up with #7-8 then they should 100% trade down if that is there opinion.

The Flyers can win the lotto 2 years in a row.

You can win it 2 times in a 5 Year period and there is nothing against winning it 2 times in a row.
Does finishing last and picking first count as "winning" the lottery or is it just if you move up? Sorry if this has been discussed I did not know this was a rule.

7-25 makes sense as a tier if you’re leaking it to a reporter and you have 2 late 1sts coming your way that you would like to give the hard sell.

I know it’s rather cynical, but here we sit.

When they said they loved the ‘25 draft we didn’t know about the 7-25 tier.

On a serious note, if true, that is likely one person’s view and not the team’s. They won’t start to have (somewhat) finalized lists until after the u18s at the earliest (ofc).

this^^ they have gone on record saying they are open to trading those picks to get better quicker. now, like Laughton, you make those appear as valuable as possible.

I really like Desnoyers but I do not think he will be there outside of the top 5. If he is still there and Flyers take him I'm happy.
McQueen is a concern as well I agree. One would hope they have better medical info than we do but if they don't, definitely a risk. He could fall and end up a steal for somebody or be a draft disaster. Impossible to know so I wouldn't risk it.
