Toe doesn’t evaluate prospects on appearances.

The timelines on football and hockey are drastically different too. Immediate impact (or within a year) versus 2-5 years in other leagues. Hockey has fewer positions too. In the end, drafting for fit is a boondoggle in every sport. Rarely works, no matter the round. Usually take worse players and then wonder why you have junk. But you do get some immediate satisfaction pretending you’re filling holes.



I am getting excited to start watching soon to tell him why he’s wrong about some guys. It’s the only reason I watch at this point.

That’s the situation though. The QBs in this draft are not as high end or as good as the top other positions like edge and Hunter, but a few teams will draft them over the BPA bc they need one.

I’m thinking O’Brien is the worst case realistic scenario. I don’t have a problem with O’Brien but it would be a very meh return after this season. Even hearing Brady Martin’s name is giving me heart palpitations. I’d love him in the later half of the 1st but not as a top 10 pick (unless he turns into Mike Richards). Smith and Mrtka are probably another worst case scenario but they’d be very meh too (or bad, depending on who was passed over

TLDR: I think if the Flyers have their heart dead set on a center O’Brien is worst case scenario, especially because Martone and/or Eklund are getting passed over

same principle in football. Oh we have too many corners? See QB factory comments. Can you field 20 centers in hockey? yea probably. Are there enough players to have 20 good centers? no lmao. Take BPA, and if theres a positional conflict you can trade up. Dont treat AA assets like a AAA asset. Trade trade trade. Trade with purpose! Drafting is easy actually, you just take the best player every time. No question. See first statement.

Next year’s U17 team for the US Program. Pelosi & Chizik are two Philly Metro area kids. Pelosi appears to be considered the best prospect on the team at this point.

My son played against Pelosi for years. He’s a great player. Could be a pretty high first round pick in the NHL. His older brother, Chris, is a Bruins draft pick.

You could not possibly be more wrong.

The whole thing with the draft is that the smart teams don’t have spots they have to fill. They may have spots where they would love to have a guy, but if Howie Roseman had Johnny Newton as his top ranked player at 22, Quinyon Mitchell is in Arizona or something right now.

There was a time when you knew the Flyers were very good at drafting forwards. It wouldn't matter if it was late in the first round, they just made it happen. They never managed to get the D done.

Bascially comes down to us picked 6-9. Need PITS to clutch up... need Anaheim and BUF to just steer clear a bit.

We literally were desperate for CBs and went CB CB in the first two rounds. Then edge, by your own admission the need of the team. It’s what NFL teams do for logical reasons. It’s a lot closer to filling a need like a UFA in football than hockey.

The bears ain’t picking a QB any time soon. NFL teams 100% draft for need.

The Flyers should pick a wing if that’s the BPA. They went Michkov then Cutter then tried to get Demidov. Clearly tired to trade back wanting Luchanko later.

Bruins will get their hands on a great prospect in this years draft only to be competititve again next season. I won't be surprised if they go hard after Marner too.

Their window is about to close since they made some questionable picks in recent drafts but they are still a well let franchise.
