I honestly have Frondell and Desnoyers above Hagens but i also don't disagree with you at all.
If they take Hagens at 4, i walk away a very happy man. I can't constantly shit on the Flyers for Big Braining things, and then be mad when they make the responsible decision. My concern is that reaching for Luchanko a small-ish center, is going to force them to ignore the small-ish center

I’m mostly going off of old viewings but there is no way Desnoyers is a better prospect than Hagens.

I find him to be a more complete player and a far more cerebral player. I want him more because i think his play with Michkov would be unbelievable.
Better size, better thinker, better defense. Can pass, can score (his shot needs work). More physical.
Am i shocked if Hagens has the better career? not even kinda. Do i think that Desnoyers can be the more effective hockey player? Absolutely. And i'm not a "Size Matters" "Need more effort" kinda fella. In fact, most people i discuss Desnoyers with, i agree with 95% of the time, this just happens to be the 5% of the time.

I'd settle for the pick being defensible in comparison to other options. Just stick with someone in the same tier, rather than, say, overdrafting McQueen cause big.

I did the tankathon sim 4 times; the 1st two times they dropped a spot; the next 2 times they got #1
No matter what they should get a welcome addition to the prospect pool. I’m no professional scout and I’m easily swayed by those who invest more time. One guy will say a player will be a star and give good reasons for that projection. I’ll agree with them. Another guy will question the same player and give good reasons for skepticism and I’ll then agree with them. Fact is, it’s tough to accurately project every player. Even the best scouts are wrong sometimes and even the worst scouts are right sometimes. There is a bit of gambling and luck involved unless you get like the 1st overall pick, and sometimes even then, a player selected after turns out to be the better player

What happened to E. Desnoyers this year anyway? Injured? Basically half the points he had in the A two seasons ago.
Never expected him to be much more than a bottom 6er, but at this rate, he won’t even be that.

I haven’t watched 1 minute of the Phantoms. My guess is Lappy is working his magic. Playing the right way, rolls, etc.
(He was always vanilla. I think the rookie year was weirdly the outlier, but even so much regression is a weird arc.)

He had a higher shooting percentage his rookie year in the AHL than he had in the Q. Then they cut his PP when he couldn't repeat it.
