Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

So i have my first top 10 of the year, i normally do it end of March, End of Season, Week before draft:

1. Schaefer
2. Misa
3. Frondell
4. Desnoyers
5. Eklund
6. Hagens
7. Martone
8. Mrtka
9. Lakovic
10. O'Brien

If Martone goes in the top 4, which is possible, that should leave us with one of Hagens, Frondell, Desnoyers. Eklund (I know no one else here wants Eklund because of his position, but he is SO good).

I’m no scout and it’s just a hunch but I think whoever takes Eklund will be very happy with him
Depending on where they're at, if the Flyers go BPA, Eklund can land right in our laps and i have a feeling he will be a cornerstone for this organization for a long time.

Now, Flyers won't go BPA and he'll probably go ahead of where we pick

As long as they don’t use their top 10 pick on someone like Brady Martin or Hensler, I think I’ll be “okay” with whoever they choose…depending on who they pass over

Anyone know if Cutter Gauthier/Johansen/ Buium’s agent is representing any guys in this draft?

Bruins for sure... would not shock me if they took McQueen or Mrtka at 4-5.

Last two years they have taken 9 players...

0/9 under 6'1 or under 185lbs.

average height and weight of their picks has been like 6'3 and 210lbs lmao.
Yes please. Makes all three of Desnoyers, o'Brien and Bear still available when the Flyers are on the clock.

It's still early but the 1st round pick last year (Dean Letourneau) has to be concerning to Bruins at this point

In 36 games for Boston College he had just 3 assists

That level of production from a 1st round pick forward is unheard of

Considering modern fan’s obsession with short skinny players because of “did you see his SKILL at Nova Scotia milk-suckers league???” I’m wondering there is not conversation about Cameron Reid as a top-10 pick
Can skate around guys who will never see NHL ice, flies along the board after strong wind. All the tools to satisfy the most sophisticated needs of nowadays fan

And not a surprise. A lot of people I spoke to had him as a project late 2nd/3rd round type pick. Lot of people who had watched him closely for years were shocked that people had him ranked as a 1st rounder...

he had played with guys like Pridham, Castagna, Dell'Elce a year before... who are all within a year of him age wise, and looked a level below them. Pridham was always the pick of the bunch/the star of that St. Andrews group and he went 3rd round in 2024... and tbh that is a fair range for him as he is most likely going to be a good AHLer but not an NHLer.

Last year he looked a step behind in his 2 USHL games as well.

Someone's gonna reach top 15 on him. I can feel it in my toes.
I always worry about defensemen that have ~as many goals as assists. That usually doesn't translate well. And he's one of the older first time eligibles. Barrie is a lot lower scoring team than I thought though and he co-lead them in scoring so that's a plus.

Have the Flyers ever drafted a black player? Lol
Kaplan, Wisdom, and Powell just recently.

Bear is going to drop. He has a lacerated Achiles. I'd be absolutely shocked if he goes top 10.

Also, i think Desnoyers and Eklund are large steps above O'brien. So if we don't get the centers we want and are considering Bear, i'd much rather go Eklund.

He's not even on my list. His production is a lot better than the Dmen that will go around where I think he should go but I don't care much about his game. He'll probably be a fine NHLer though.

Trades Kuzmenko to LA to beat the Oilers - better pick for us and McDavid want to get the hell out.

Rantanen makes Dallas better to beat the Avs- get a better pick

This may actually work out for us.
I am excited to see if the Flyers will actually use botth or package at least one of the late firsts for a trade.

Probably comes down if they get which prospect they want with their first selection and who is still on the board.

Let's say the Flyers end up picking 6th overall.

Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Martone and Eklund are off the board.

Who do you take and why?

Frondell or Desnoyers? Mrtka?

I've read somewhere here, (sry, don't remember the name of the member) the Flyers are high on Caleb Desnoyers.

I stopped to believe I should make arguments who to pick when I was mad the Flyers didn't select Kiefer Bellows in 2016 ...

Frondell. I think he has a higher ceiling and a higher floor than Desnoyers.

I say keep all the 1sts. Can’t see them moving up much.

Did you have another wet dream about this?
If McDavid gets out in the first round, do you think he will be exited to stay there?
