Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Interesting to see where Nicolas Sykora goes...

I think he is one of those guys who even with the famous father might get overlooked.

Has the skill-set to be a good pro one day but numbers were suppressed by playing for Omaha to start the season. (out of position and without great minutes and with very poor linemates) And now on Sioux City he is playing behind their top line which is all 20 year olds basically.

Looking back at last year and what my "personal" draft would have been given where Flyers picked, and trying not to use hindsight...

#12: Buium
#51: Stiga (but would have tried hard as hell to move up for Artamonov once he got past 40, as he was in my top 12 guys)
#59: Mews
#107: Kiviharju
#148: Misa
#173: Galvas
#205: Krutov

I might be slightly wrong on 1-2... as my old PC went kaput last month and getting memory off it soon (and had my top 100 list in tiers on it from pre-draft).... but pretty sure on most of them.

also given who went undrafted I would have for sure tried to get a couple of late 7ths at the last minute to snag some of Hynninen, Ustinkov and Rimpinen... Hynninen was in my own personal top 50, and all 3 were top 100 on my list.

Just saw this dude on the main boards : Mason West - Stats, Contract, Salary & More. The Flyers' wet dream of a draft pick.

From Minnesota, huge (6'5" 210), questionnable talent relative to where he's likely to be picked, he's going to annihilate the combine, and there's a chance he doesn't even pick Hockey as his sport in college since he's also a QB prospect. Flahr is gonna fall in love. I predict one of our 2nd round picks is going to be spent on him.

Before or after the Flyers coach all the skill and creativity out of his game

Exactly. This coaching staff has failed to get our most skilled players anywhere near their offensive ceiling.

TK, Michkov, Tippett, Frost, Farabee, Foerster, Brink...and even the dman have all stalled offensively and not one has take the big step. They are all (or were) stuck in "play the right way" purgetory.

The only two players that have exceeded offensive expectations under torts are laughton and cates.

I know people are focused on center, but this team desperately needs what Schaefer brings as well. We'll see what Bobby Mac's final list is, but if he is still the unanimous 1, I don't see anyway they pass on him just to get a center.
I don't bring him up because he's going first and the hockey gods hate us lol so I pretend he doesn't exist, it's much easier that way

If Petr had ever played for the Flyers he might have been a lock to get drafted here.

Granted, that might be flawed logic, given that at his size, they're not touching Luka Radivojevic with a 10 foot pole.

While watching a tank a thon cheer up people, look at our save %. Compare that to a team like Buffalo, we look solid for our tank a thon, we have our secret weapon for a Christmas gift

6'7 20 year old Russian center who plays in the KHL and looks solid.

Still baffling to me he was not taken in 2023.

Not a bad skater either and in draft year was close to P/GP for Avto who are always deep.

But it is crazy to me every year the Russian players who go undrafted... I know for a fact it is to at least one NHL team as well...

if it were me running a team I think probably 50% of all my 4th-7th round picks over a 5 year span would be out of Russia.

Depending in which division an MHL team plays, if a player is over 0.9 P/GP for forwards or 0.4 P/GP for Dmen in draft year that is a better indicator of a good pro career than the same marks in the QMJHL for example. (but from all the data I have looked at the MHL is actually a stronger league than the Q the last 10 years...)
