Official 2025 NHL Draft Thread

Would be a nice pick by the Flyers if they got him. From my very limited viewing of some of the kids.

He’s not a consistent motor or pace guy imo, but the game isn’t always about that either.

I like Bear though. The flash is what draws me but not sure they can pick high enough here to get that.
He sounds like Morgan Frost.

Top? Maybe 2 or 3. Hagens, maybe Misa (projects more as a wing in the NHL), and maybe McQueen but he’s a bit of a project.
Does anyone know the extent or type of lower body injury McQueen has? They are saying mid February return. It would be on brand for an injured high end Brandon center to get drafted by the Flyers.

I'm torn as to whether they should tank or just continue down the path of mediocrity. If they end up with a top five pick, you know that they'll either take the biggest forward available, which is the injury prone Roger McQueen, or they'll draft Logan Hensler because "right handed defenseman." If they continue down the path of mediocrity, they'll at least take a player rated to be in their range when they select.

Anybody else think they're going to screw this draft up?

Well briere screwed up last draft, why not double down and do it again?

I have no confidence in them unless they get the first pick.

Sounds like the guy the Flyers will reach for:

From the Hockey News:

14. Brady Martin, C, Soo Greyhounds (OHL)

While his production has been average (29 points in 28 games), the 200-foot game that Martin plays and the work ethic that he possesses is impressive. He continues to get better as the season progresses with his IQ and ability to thrive in all situations. Martin always seems to be in the right place at the right time to make something happen, be it offensively or defensively. He a has a great set of hands and always possesses great drive and intensity every shift. He’s a play driver and is similar to the style of play of Jett Luchanko last season.

I wonder sometimes if Mike Richards exceeding his draft position (24th) led to all of Laughton, Rubstov, O'Brien and Luchenko. Centers they think "play the right way" and galaxy brain that there is more upside then they actually have

Why have one Scott Laughton when you can have three?
The room!
