I must not know what the definition of reach is if Luchanko isn't considered a reach
That long term rosterFWIW, interesting read.
Top 5 picks are Schaefer, Misa, Frondell, Desnoyers, and Hagens.
They have the Flyers taking Martone at 6.
Then picking Cootes with the Colorado pick.
Then trading the Edmonton pick and a 2nd for Marco Rossi.
They also mock the rest of 2nd round Flyers picks.

Flyers Mock Draft 1.0: How to Spend Seven Top-50 Picks — The Hockey Writers
The Philadelphia Flyers stocked up heavily for the 2025 NHL Draft. In addition to picking sixth overall, they’ll have two other selections in the first round (location to be determined) and four in the second (officially 36th, 40th, 45th, and 48th).apple.news

What makes anyone think that other clubs are willing to draft out of their top five draft slots?I wouldn’t be surprised if Briere tries to move up. It may cost a late 1st or even both to get his guy. Utah isn’t afraid to go off the board and 6 is a better spot for that especially if they get another 1st or more.
I haven’t heard anything about the Flyers thoughts on Hagens and Frondell, which I’m curious to know. Maybe the Desnoyers rumors are a smokescreen but as of now I think that’s Briere’s guy. Either way Briere should be spending lots of time on the phone with Chicago, Utah, and Nashville. He wanted to move up last year but couldn’t. This year he has the ammo
Of course you need to find a partner but every team has a different draft board. If a team thinks they can still get their guy at 6 and pick up extra picks, why not? It would cost the Flyers thoughWhat makes anyone think that other clubs are willing to draft out of their top five draft slots?
That would be amazing. I think most of it has 0% chance of happening.FWIW, interesting read.

wow u hate my mock???The mocks are still lazily picking "Flyer" types.
Luchanko is Ukrainian for “reach.”I must not know what the definition of reach is if Luchanko isn't considered a reach
You're right but I just can't see all 3 of Chicago Utah and Nashville passing on him. He's too goodIt depends who teams like. I think the only certainty is that Schaefer and Misa won’t make it to 6.
I still remember Pierre McGuire going on and on about how Tom Wilson HAD to be the Flyers' pick in 2012 up until Washington took him. I'm not sure if there was any legitimate smoke there, but Wilson claimed based on pre draft meetings that he was sure he was going to Philly, but who knows. But I'm positive if the Flyers draft Wilson, he never evolves past the fourth line goon he was his first few years. Oh, and he probably would've been kicked out of the league at this point. The mocks are still lazily picking "Flyer" types.
outside of Schaefer going 1 or 2, and Misa going by 3 or 4, this draft is pretty wide open and divisive so it will be interesting I think. Hagens may go 1 or he may drop to 6. Frondell could go ~3 or he could be there at 6. Ditto for Martone and Desnoyers. Lots of people are split on these players and I’m sure that includes the GM’s doing the drafting. There was smoke about Flyers liking Desnoyers but I can’t remember any rumors prior to drafts or trades that turned out true. Maybe that means Briere is keeping hush on who he wantsYou're right but I just can't see all 3 of Chicago Utah and Nashville passing on him. He's too good
Rather Martone than Martin.I really, really don't want Martone.
I really, really don't want Martone.
I would. Obviously we will still need a pivot for him and/or Michkov but if he is available at 6, unless someone else unexpected falls, I would absolutely take him. I haven't even considered the possibility that he will be there at 6 because he seems pretty much a lock to go probably 3/4. I took him at 3 in this board's mock to the Hawks. Bedard and Martone could be a nice combo for the next decade.I really, really don't want Martone.
I am averse to his prospect profile: Old for the draft, tall poor skater, makes plays at a slow pace. Lot of risk in his game not translating. The alternative picks just seem much more attractive to me. No offense to Michkov, but can you imagine Martone/Michkov on a line and being the guys on the forecheck or trying to get the puck up ice? What a slog. That center would have to be amazing to get the puck moving down the ice.How come? I mean... on paper he is the 4th best player in this draft and his profile is pretty much "cant miss top six winger who is potentially a 80-90 point guy"
Only 14 players, who are currently "developed", in the last 20 years of CHL drafts have:
>0.6 G/GP (Martone at 0.65)
>1.6 P/GP (Martone at 1.72)
>0.45 non-PP G/GP (Martone at 0.53)
>0.95 non PP P/GP (Martone at 1.25)
0/14 have missed...
Crosby, Kane, Stamkos, Tavares, Seguin, Drouin, MacKinnon, Ehlers, McDavid, DeBrincat, Svechnikov, Jarvis, Byfield, Bedard (Cristall and Catton also in this club but developing)
The worst case scenario with Martone barring a lightning strike is probably a Jonathan Drouin or Sam Gagner level player. IE a 50-60 point 2nd liner across prime... and frankly that is like a 10th centile outcome.
And not like Martone is a flash in the pan. He has been dominant for 4 years now at every level for his age... on track constantly for top ~3 pick in NHL draft type profile.
If he falls to six you are getting a player who on paper in a "mid" draft would normally be a #2-4 pick off profile tbh. (this draft is funny as the #1-2 spot are "fine, probably average/slightly below", #3-4 spot is probably above average and the #5-6 spot around average... but then 7-15 or so is "meh"
