Rasumussen?
Was already editing the name when i realized i spelled it wrong haha.

I don't believe in McQueen at all. He's a giant, and he has skill, i also don't think its gonna materialize at the NHL level (granted i've watched 3-4 games, maybe someone knows better than me).

So far, i prefer Misa, Hagens, Desnoyers, and Frondell to McQueen. But i post on a message board and run a second place fantasy team, what do i know.

This Rasmussen would have fit. 7th overall and meh

So does the current one. 9th overall and meh

I'd love to find a way to leave this draft with one of Frondell/Desnoyers and 2 of Mtrka/Ryabkin/Gastrin.

But i also know that is beyond unlikely

With that pile of second rounders, I like to think they can elevate those later firsts if Danny thinks of it.

I've been wondering for several weeks how we could get ahold of Ryabkin aside from that first pick, but it depends on how far he falls. His Prospects thread here makes it sound as if he could go anywhere from 10 to 40.

That's the issue with him. He appears to be what NHL GMs claim to be afraid of when it comes to Russians. So they either ignore that entirely or he falls really far. Hard to predict

So what are thoughts on Victor Eklund? His brother seems to becoming a great player and hockey looks like a sport that keeps it in the family, so to speak. You got the Hughes bros, then Brady an Matt, plus all the sons of former players

They already put themselves in the hole last summer on that front so might as well keep digging at this point.

Teams such as the Flyers and Blackhawks that have multiple picks will claim that it's a deep draft in order to justify the moves that they've made to acquire those picks. Teams that traded away their picks will claim that they did so in order to substantiate why they moved out those selections.

Where would you take him?

Schaefer... hmmm... he is top 3 for sure! Aha. That is a silly answer but if I went to a draft podium right now with a #1 OA I guess I would go Misa but I would be very insecure about that. Then Schaefer maybe #2. But Hagens is also a very good player but almost a year older.

And Smith... 2nd Dman off the board. Probably in the 6-8 range.

I have just not watched enough tbh in terms of CHL this year to really have a perfect view of Schafer vs Misa vs Hagens. By opinion and evaluation of them comes from last year combined with the stats and the limited games I have seen this year.

I think whoever teams take top 6 will end up as excellent NHLers... but some more like 70 point guys and some stars.

The draft is not deep, but Hagens, Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Frondell, Eklund especially have pretty much "cant miss prospect" profiles, in terms of worst case scenario will be 60 point guys or a #2. Then Smith slides in as "if he is not a #3 at worst then he got seriously injured" level. Then Ryabkin is a... everything for years says he has a chance to be a star but he is a bit scary...

May 7th will be the day I really start hammering down on watching more CHL. Before then it is just so Europe focused for the USHL draft with smatterings of USHL, NAHL, BCHL etc...

Everyone dropping Hagens is blowing my mind. I love Schaefer but I'm not sold on having him higher than 4 and I'm almost ready to put Frondell ahead of him at this point. I get the Misa argument but I'd still go Hagens unless his production really drops off.

For me it is all heart on those guys at this point. Aha.

On May 15th or so I really might have a totally different opinion once I watch full games and not just a game here or there and clips.

I do think it is likely that those 3 are all stars tbh. And Frondell now after injury recovery is getting back on track to where he was last year... the "Willie Nylander/Lucas Raymond" kind of level player over the 2 seasons...

just hope the Flyers lose, lose, lose... because even picking at 6 and having 3/5 of...

Frondell, Martone, Eklund, Smith, Ryabkin

(though as much as my heart believes in Ryabkin... and my head before this year did too... there are real concerns, not about his ability... but, well, I was far less concerned about Michkov in terms of the non-hockey stuff)

available is a fantastic outcome. That the Flyers would have a hard time messing up. I think this is actually a really good draft to pick say ~5-7... even if draft overall is pretty middling.

Now, picking around 8? I could see them messing up.

It’s the Flyers, I can always see them messing up. I can absolutely see them landing the #1 pick and thinking, hey, none of these guys are potential generational players so hell yeah, let’s trade the pick for a 28 year old top 6 center, a 2/3 Dman and a late 1st.

It would be totally on point for these idiots.
