Props to the players for actually giving a shit here. We see far too often these days where athletes are just mailing it in for these extra curriculars. They played with pride.

It was a great short tournament. The NHL needs to capitalize on these new eyeballs that they got. The opportunity is there. We always talk about that after things like the Olympics being such a great opportunity but it’s never really jumped on.

We haven’t seen something like this happen in sports in a while.
They’ll probably capitalize on it by featuring riveting action like the Flyers vs the Islanders.

Any good shots of Torts reacting to the loss on the bench? I've supported the US in hockey for like about 30 years, but this year I couldn't.

Can't wait for another 500 years of Crosby propaganda shoved down our throats
Just praise McJesus for getting the GWG instead of him. That woulda been too much.

Maybe it was Guerin that picked this roster but in international play speed kills. The US didn't have close to enough of it. Cooper played a fast paced game and won. Sullivan/Tortorella a grinding one and lost. Canada really exposed the Americans that didn't deserve to be there because they are just too slow-all four Rags; Nelson couldn't keep up. They're washed. Did Hughes get lost in the locker room and wasn't able to find the ice? If the US wants to win international competitions they're going to have to change their approach to the game. Hint to the Flyers as well.

Adding injury to insult, yikes.

Charlie McAvoy’s right arm is in a sling, and he’ll be out several weeks for the Boston Bruins. Brady Tkachuk’s upper left leg was wrapped like a mummy as he prepared to return to, and captain, the Ottawa Senators. Matthew Tkachuk, who played less than seven minutes — including zero shifts after the second period — could barely walk out of TD Garden just before 1 a.m. Friday and surely will miss games for the Florida Panthers. Brock Faber logged just under 29 minutes — more than anybody on the United States or Canada in the tournament final on Thursday night — and now faces a quick turnaround with a Saturday afternoon game with his Minnesota Wild.

Both countries are so even now in hockey it's really a toss up each game.

The one thing Canada has had, is the top guy...Gretzky, Lemieux, Sid, McDavid/MacKinnon. But it's a team game and it's great that "lesser" guys shine..like Bradey, Binnington, etc...

Matthews leaving McDavid open to chase his teammate Marner, who was already marked, is just brutal.

Leaving off Tage Thompson and Jason Robertson for some of the plugs they brought...they deserved the L. They never learn.

Hughes was getting bullied all night. Had a few nice rushes but did not do well with the physicality last night

And sitting Kyle Connor for Kreider.

Connor was pretty terrible this tournament to be fair (him & Hughes were probably the most disappointing of guys you actually have meaningful expectations for). But I’d still take him over Kreider.

The three controversial picks ultimately sucked this tournament though. I doubt USA Hockey learns their lesson though.

Regression to the mean = Connor was guaranteed to score a hat trick in the finals

The two games were essentially coin flip games by the metrics. So it’s not like anybody got ran over even process wise.

But you probably wish you brought some of the scoring chops you left with the razor thin margins.

That has Torts fingerprints all over it.
Didn’t really mean to be a buzzkill for this tournament. My mood and anxiety has been shit for awhile now and enjoying anything is nearly impossible for me.
Good to hear it was a great game.
I think that goes for most any reasonable, thinking person these days my friend.

In a battle of even teams I'm always gonna take the one with McDavid since he can go mutant at any time
