I think the atmosphere in this between US and Canada will be better than the Olympics. You’re just not going to get this rowdiness in Milan. On and off the ice. These guys looked like they were playing a Cup Finals game during the round robin.

I’m already laughing at the talking points about Canada having to take Wilson next year at the Olympics by some. This is an NHL environment with their rules & enforcement. Wilson is a totally liability in an IIHF environment with their rule enforcements both on & off the ice.

The risk is there in that regards with the Tkachuk brothers too but they’re easily 2 of the best 12 forwards USA can ice. In Matthew’s case he’s probably a top 15ish player in the entire NHL. So the benefit outweighs that risk.

Wilson is not one of the best 12 forwards Canada can ice & he’s not even one of the best spares either.

I don't know man, i'm loving it. It has EVERYBODY talking hockey. I mean Developers from India at my company who never watch sports...all they talked about during an IT team meeting the other day was USA vs Canada. Embrace the moment rather then looking for hate.

I'm not even really sure the Olympics really matter anymore. They've fallen so far over the last few years of being a spectacle. I don't think i'm in the minority on that one. They used to be "must watch" and advertised everywhere but the last few Olympics, while easier to watch every event, just haven't had the same pizzazz behind them.

Eh, the Paris Olympics were incredible. Curry icing the gold medal game with maybe the best shot ever made, the new pole vault WR, and the high jump duel for gold were just a few of my favorites.

Also the 1500m final where the unfancied American ran past the superstars to take gold.

There’s legitimate hockey reasons to be excited about this game if one keeps their focus on that.

Which is exactly what many are not smart enough to do, apparently.

It’s some of the best hockey I’ve seen in a while, which I’m surprised by. I love INT tournaments.

It also shows how watered down the league is in terms of talent. Part of that is being a Flyer Fan - but it’s not just for this team.

Whether it’s due to poor scouting/management - or whatever reason, it’s been nice to see the best guys go at it instead of try hard scrubs.

Don’t really care who wins this one either, but would love some overtime.

Some of the women’s Canada/US games have been great as well. Nice tempo to this one.
