Has he made a significant deadline deal in 5 years, meaning a trade that came up quickly? Other than Chych which took him 2 years? Zero chance anything significant happens, IMHO. We still have an outside shot at the playoffs so getting a second or third for a vet is not in the cards, better to keep the player and our fingers crossed. If BA can get a first for an expiring contract, then he should do it, I just don't see that happening.

I don't think anything significant will happen either. He may however move a vet UFA who has a chance to win Stanley if the player wants.

I agree, our trade dead line was 2 months ago and we blew it. Now I don't think we should make any trades our players have returned from injury.

Teams don't generally have enough cap space to acquire Crouse without sending payroll back attached to a player we don't want anyway. Crouse is an over paid player today with term, that means low trade value. I think if he is traded or Maccelli, it will be this summer in a package deal for something we want or need.

This is a golden opportunity for BA to act like a leader and say: "We plan on making a playoff push with the group we have so we aren't selling off guys that can help us get there for second or third round picks. If we get a great offer, we will listen, but our plan is a playoff push". That sends a message to the team.

Not official but probably due to it not being registered with the league office (until tomorrow). But all the usual pundits are posting it.

His cap hit will force us to take back a contract we don't want with the fist, likely with term, and I am not sure we would get a first at this point for him.

Hebig signed with Utah for the rest of the season, 2-way. No longer an AHL contract.

It’s not all too common. Basically for it to happen, the player has to be on an AHL contract or PTO with the AHL club. You then run the risk of losing the player for free because signing them to an NHL contract puts them “on paper” on the NHL roster, meaning they have to clear waivers to continue playing with the AHL team (assuming they’re not exempt from waivers). The other possibility that we saw with Mike Fisher a while back is that they’re a UFA who can sign an NHL contract for the rest of the season.
