Offer Sheet for 2c

Only scenario for RFA offer sheet this summer is CLB throwing a dart at NYR and them matching anyway.

This isn't a summer for OS with the whole cap situation helping high cap teams

Any OS to Vilardi, Geekie, Knies, McTavish, etc. will be matched. Unless its a stupid overpay.
 
Absolutly no need of a 2C, Donato is a good target for the 2nd line, he will bring stability.

You got Beck and Demidov who could join next year and then Hage the following year.

Probably should have re-signed Monahan. If he knew Dach was going to have season like this Hughes would have.

Serious, Montreal deals Colombus back their 2nd, to move up a few notches in first round I would guess. I'd like to get the Wild pick for their 2nd. Imagine have to give Jackets another asset, 3rd this year maybe. Still give Montreal 3 first picks this draft

maybe im just tired but im having a hard time understanding the last part. are you saying he'd try to get his 2nd rounder back from the Habs so he'd be in a position to offer sheet a player?
 
An offer sheet requires 2 things

A cap strapped team and and idiot GM to get them cap strapped.

And one other thing - a draft year like this one with no really special players you might miss out on.

Nah this team absolutely need to acquire a good 2C right now. It's a glaring hole in the upper part of their lineup, and they can't afford to wait 2-3 years from development to potentially fill it.

I doubt it topples enough to get you a 1st OA, but with the lottery, it's certainly something to consider before using the option.

Not sure I do it for Cuylle either, but I would have done it for Seider for example :naughty:
 
A lots of talks around Horvat since he told that the most underated NHL player was Nick Suzuki. I would like Horvat and because hes overpaid, mayyyyyyyyybe there is something to be made

Pretty critical part of the process. MTL would have to have a very specific target for this to work. Maybe we’re at a point where the team’s potential is enough to attract interest, but I think it’s more likely that the player would need to have some kind of established connection to either our roster or the city.

Bourque is the most obvious target given he’s both a center and from Québec. Had like 50 family/friends at the Bell Centre in January. He’s been given very little opportunity with the Stars and they’ve got some cap maneuvering to do this offseason. Having the 2C spot wide open and being given an opportunity to play with Demidov would be pretty attractive.

Dallas probably matches 4.58mil x 2yrs (2nd) as it’s fairly low risk and they can likely move enough cap to make it work. From 4.58mil-6.87mil (1st and 3rd), I think we’d have a strong chance of acquiring him. They also need d-prospects so maybe the threat of an offer sheet would be enough to spark a deal.

Send over the 1st+2nd+3rd this year (could even do the highest in each round that we have) with a contract agreement in place - that way we don't risk blowing up and losing out in McKenna, but Minnesota also gets higher picks than they'd likely get from an offer sheet.

Minnesota has a bunch of capsace. if you pay Rossi the 9-10 mil per year he's looking for, Wild get four 1st for him

Yeah but Seider is worth a top 5 pick if you give one up. You live with that. You can't live with it for a guy like Cuylle.

A team is not built in one offseason. Sometimes a little patience is required.

If there's no one realistically available this year, you put in on hold and wait for the market to shift. As a worst-case scenario, you add a strong 2C as the final piece when you're ready to contend. Even a rental will do in such scenario, or someone with a potentially bad contract down the line, because you don't care once your window is closed.

Meanwhile, we could focus on restructuring our defense, a strong backup goalie and some penalty killing forwards. A leaky defense is a greater problem right now for this team than its offense.

We have our 1C and 4C covered. If a 2C is not realistically available at this time, we should aim at having two solid middle six centermen for next season. That's why I believe extending Dvorak is an option that should be considered. A Laine - Dvorak - Demidov line is something I could see working and if it doesn't, I don't think a center would be the problem. It's Laine and his atrocious 5 on 5 play.
